Where is ds's purse?

Ds(9) has misplaced his purse, which contained his birthday money (£30). The last time we can recall seeing it is when he asked me to swap two tenners for a twenty pound note - we were at the bottom of the stairs in our house.

He is adamant that he hasn't taken it out of the house. I've looked in all the bags and coat pockets I can think of. It's not under any sofa cushions, or even under any sofas. It's not in any toy boxes or baskets. We've tidied his room, and it's not in the laundry basket.

I have had a small look in the cupboard of everything, but I can't find it in there.

Where would you be if you were his purse?

In a wellie

pollyhampton · 18/11/2019 10:27

Down the side of his bed? In a jacket pocket? Under a book?

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 18/11/2019 10:28

Under his pillow but within the case?

Celebelly · 18/11/2019 10:28

This made me smile as I called DP's wallet his purse yesterday and he gave me a Hmm and said 'It's a wallet, not a scandalised voice purse.' Grin

Anyway hope you/he find it soon OP!

Is it in your handbag from when you changed the money?

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 18/11/2019 10:31

What, if any, pets do you have?

maras2 · 18/11/2019 10:31

Try St. Anthony. Halo

beela · 18/11/2019 10:32

Good call on the wellies, but just checked and not there. I've checked all the coats.

I'm scared that it slipped into the charity bags that went off to the shop a few days ago, but I've been back there too and they can't recall seeing it. Maybe someone got an amazing charity shop find at the weekend.

No pets. A 5yo dd as well, but she's ridiculously good at knowing where things are and would know exactly where it was if she had seen it. Checked the handbag at least half a dozen times.

I'm going to check down the side of his bed. Send help if I don't return.

In his bed
On a windowsill behind a curtain
School book bag
Behind the TV

Good Luck!

nowlook · 18/11/2019 10:39

On top of his games console (if he has one)
Next to the loo (just channelling my youngest DS there)
Pockets of a onesie or dressing gown

I wouldn't worry: the money isn't in the purse, anyway. He's taken it out to count it again...

Herocomplex · 18/11/2019 10:39

Re-enact the scene exactly. Even talk about what you were wearing, the sounds you could hear, what happened just before. Do it thoughtfully, and just take your time. Our brains have the answers!

Likethebattle · 18/11/2019 13:14

I lost my purse...it was cream and so was the bedspread on the bed in the spare room. I also lost the remote in a hotel room and it was behind the curtains...any of these helpful?

beela · 18/11/2019 14:36

Well it wasn't in or on or under or down the side of his bed, but it was a good opportunity to get rid of a lot of dust Blush. Nor is it on any windowsill.

I think we're going to have to go with @Herocomplex 's suggestion and stage a re-enactment when he gets home from school.

Any luck @beela?

whiskersonkittenss · 18/11/2019 20:34

Behind a radiator

topcat2014 · 18/11/2019 20:39

Fallen down the side of car seats out of trouser pockets

beela · 18/11/2019 21:14

No, no luck Sad

He's so sad about it, and I'm such a softie, that I think I'm going to have to give him the £30 and get it back if/when the purse eventually turns up.

It's a mystery. I hate losing things!

It will turn up in a weird place ... shoes, underneath the mattress, spare room, dogs toy basket ... all genuine places I've found their stuff

Herocomplex · 19/11/2019 07:48

I agree, an unexpected place, good luck!

Chocolatecake12 · 19/11/2019 07:55

Popped in a kitchen cupboard for safe keeping
In his wardrobe
Have you checked the pockets inside your bag?
His school bag
Pants/sock drawer
On top of his wardrobe/bookcase/bedroom unit or behind it?
Hidden inside the Argos catalogue
Under the coffee table

Roselilly36 · 19/11/2019 08:01

Slipped behind the back of a drawer, take the drawer out and it might be at the bottom. Happen to me once with a missing passport. I hope you find it. I have had to do similar many times with my two DS’s when they were little. Drives you mad when you can’t find something I know.

WrackspurtsAndNargles62442 · 19/11/2019 08:52

Does he have a chest of drawers in his room? Under there or in the drawers?

MissCharleyP · 19/11/2019 09:15

Laundry basket? I once found my iPad in there after I had picked it up with a load of dirty clothes. Down the side of the car seat/door? In a handbag you were absolutely convinced it couldn’t be as there’s no way you used that one? On a random bookshelf/bathroom cabinet? These are all places I’ve found stuff after putting it down to quickly do something else.

Papergirl1968 · 19/11/2019 09:30

Down the side of the sofa?
I thought I’d lost £40 the other day as I’d foolishly stuffed two £20 notes in a trouser pocket. Looked everywhere and then spotted them on the floor by the sofa do they must have fell out when I stood up.
