Would you like your own John Lewis ad soundtrack?

Take the song that was at no 1 on your 8th birthday and the artist at no 1 21 years later.

Mine's The Final Countdown by Leona Lewis.

Think that might just work....(particularly if you were born in the 1970s and therefore have access to power ballads)

The one for my 30th birthday works better than my 29th - Tainted Love by a Elton John

FlappyFish · 18/11/2019 11:56

Elton John’s “Sacrifice” sung by Jason Derulo. That could work!

FairfaxAikman · 18/11/2019 12:04

I would do anything for love (but I won’t do that) by Camila Cabello.

Had a close shave because a few hours later and it would have been Mr Blobby by Ed Sheeran.

AngusThermopyle · 18/11/2019 12:04

Actually i just realised i did my 21st not 21 years later so actually it's
Kung fu fighting by Simply Red. 😬

EmmaStone · 18/11/2019 12:04

Brilliant! Mine's The Jam' Beat Surrender by Will Young....

FairfaxAikman · 18/11/2019 12:09

I also misread and thought this was the same as the one doing the rounds on FB where the artist was from 2017.

If it's by the OP then the artist changes to Ed Sheeran.

IsabelleSE19 · 18/11/2019 12:09

I Just Called to Say I Love You by Pussycat Dolls feat. Busta Rhymes.

I'm not sure it's going to work to be honest…

nowlook · 18/11/2019 12:09

@EmmaStone Will Young is a classic JL invitee. Beat Surrender includes the word "bullshit", so we'll have to change that to "hogwash".

@scarecrowfeet Please remember that we will not be including megamixes from +22 years yet. That's another meeting with the client. And the opportunity to increase fees significantly.

@FairfaxAikman I would do anything for love by Ed Sheeran? TV magic. I don't have FB (and also probably don't know many 2017 artists Grin)

OP posts:
Cataline · 18/11/2019 12:14

Stand By Me by Kelly Clarkson! I think that would work Grin

itakephotos · 18/11/2019 12:16

Wannabe by Drake 😂

The Coward of the Country- by Victoria Roberts aka Victoria Giuffre

Everyone considered him the coward of the country
He'd never stood one single time to prove the country wrong
His mama named him Andrew but folks just called him yellow
He was a Royal Family member and felt no-one could call his actions wrong
He was 59 years old when his convicted peodophile friend died in prison
There were lots of questions but Andy refused to answer them all
I still recall the words that the vulnerable women used
"Andy, our lives have been corrupted by actions which you thought were fun
"Promise me, Andy, tell the truth of what you’ve done
Never walk away from people you exploited for fear of you being caught
It DOES mean you are weak if you turn the other cheek
You’re well educated, privileged and old enough to understand
You have to be held to account whether you’re a woman or man

Everyone considered him the coward of the country

nowlook · 18/11/2019 12:18

@IsabelleSE19 But, could you get behind Stevie Wonder doing Dontcha? I know I could.

@Cataline You've hit the jackpot there, and no mistake. Perfect JL song.

OP posts:
nowlook · 18/11/2019 12:21

@floffel Grin Grin Bit edgy for JL. Aldi?

OP posts:
IsabelleSE19 · 18/11/2019 12:23

@nowlook Definitely! Stevie brings a touch of class to any song.

floffel · 18/11/2019 12:26

@nowlook - sorry, I didn’t even read your OP properly - I just saw the headline and that song popped into my head for the vile situation we are witnessing

UnitedRoad · 18/11/2019 12:27

LePimpernelScarlette · 18/11/2019 14:56

Seven Tears (Goombay Dance Band) sung by Garet Gates, surely a classic!

littlemissalwaystired · 18/11/2019 19:04

Real to me

...by unknown, as it's not been 21 years since my 8th birthdayGrin
