Anyone know anything about Apple watches?

Thinking of getting a series 3 for dd for xmas. She has an iphone 7. She runs a lot and does a lot of sport. Are they any good? Will she be able to listen to music while running? Will she need a separate monthly subscription to anything to be able to use it? Is there anything better out there at the price (199?) I am android so clueless in the ways of apple. Thank you!

I’ve got a series 4. I still can’t listen to music on it when I’m running without Apple Music. It’s so annoying and the main reason I bought it was so I could leave my bulky phone at home and run hands/pocket free.
Still, it’s a good watch for telling the time and it has lots of stats for your workouts if she’s into that sort of thing.
