Child constantly ill

Wondered if anyone else has been through this stage Confused

DS is 3 and started nursery in September. He has previously attended a childminder but obviously a smaller group.

Since then he has been ill constantly. Once vomiting and another with a heavy cold but he gets recurrent episodes of high temperature which knock him for days, no other symptoms other than a mild cough.

Before anyone says, I’ve been to the doctors twice in the past 6 weeks and every time she says probably viral and to let him get on with it.

Is this something that typically happens when children start nursery or should I be pushing for more? I know I should trust the doctor but I’m worried that it’s always the same thing just on repeat?

Quite common for children to have a run of lurgy when joining a nursery. They are getting exposed to a whole new range of viruses. It should settle down after a bit, but you know your DS.

My DS seemed constantly run down at nursery at that age. I started giving him Kindervital fruity vitamin formula and it made a good difference to the amount of colds/coughs he had. You can get it in Holland and Barrett or Amazon.

Totally normal IME, the first two winters at nursery were horrendous with both of mine, calmed down a lot by the third. My eldest is year two now and has never had a sick day off school, he’s had minor sniffles but nothing major like the early nursery days.
