Anyone live near Lilleshall national sports centre - Telford?

I need to take Dd to Lilleshall next week as part of her apprentice she will be staying there overnight so instead of doing a 6/7 hour round trip two days in a row decided it will be better to get a cheap room and stay the night.

Can anyone recommend place area to stay? I will be there Thursday afternoon until Friday afternoon so somewhere maybe I can wonder shopping or out for dinner

There is a Premier Inn in Newport which is around a 3 minute drive.

Yep the Premier Inn is your best bet for staying close. It’s attached to a Beefeater pub so somewhere cheap and handy to grab food.

Newport itself is lovely but small and I think you’d get round it in an hour or so shopping. Telford has a big shopping centre (akin to merry hill or the bullring but on a smaller scale).

There’s an absolutely gorgeous restaurant opened up in Newport if you want a dinner recommendation, The Red House. We’re having our works Xmas dinner there it’s so nice.

Used to live in Longden Smile

Didn't know they did room there but it's a lovely pub but literally the only thing there is there! So other than a walk up the street you'll have to drive to Telford town centre or Shrewsbury.

But as a previous poster mentioned Newport is lovely too

The Tayleur has recently been taken over by new owners so I couldn’t tell you what it’s like now but it used to be lovely. It is a very isolated little village though. There’s not even a shop.
