Evening all, can anyone recommend a nice resultant to eat in the city Center of Edinburgh? Nothing too fancy or expensive the kind of place you can go after mooching around the Christmas markets ( so won't be too dressed up) tia x

Queens Arms so lovely pub food, very cosy. There’s a great pizza place in West End La Piazza maybe. Sis room in St Andrews Square or the Turkish place on Rose Street Mezze.

Mussell inn! If you like seafood. Booking essential this time of year

The Outsider on George IV Bridge is good :) Or Taste of Italy at the top of Leith Walk for restaurant quality food at cafe prices (you can sit in a booth, or in the window and people watch :))

Angels with Bagpipes - excellent quality.

and a very yummy mash restaurant - one of Edinburgh's last independents

Both super and very central.

Petit Paris in the Grassmarket is good value and in a nice spot to finish up mooching, especially if you like French food. I finally got to go last summer after walking past it for 20-odd years and wondering what it was like, I figured if it's lasted this long they must be doing something right, and they are! I was in Makars on the Mound for lunch the other week, it does a few variations on 'gourmet' sausage and mash. Again, really reasonable prices and a good spot in the thick of things. You need to book ahead for both - we were spectacularly lucky and wandered in minutes ahead of the rush for each place.

Oh, I just noticed Piggy mentioned Makars too.
