We normally stay in a hotel but these are now becoming to dear for us, so we are looking to private rent an apartment. My question is do I book flights first then look for an apartment or book the apartment then look for flights.
Thanks for your help.

I have a think about where I'd like to go, then check accommodation availability and prices (if nothing is available it normally means there's an event happening in the area) and check there's a few I'd be happy with and prices are affordable. Then check flight times and prices from all the local airports. Book flight depending on best price/times and then book accommodation when flights are confirmed. (may be that changing dates of trip by a day or two saves a fortune on the flight). Also check out how to get easily from the airport and accommodation at the times of your flights

28muddledmidget we already know where we want to go and which resort. It's only I didn't know which to book first.
Thank you for replying.

I have a look at both and check that I can get flights and apartments to suit and that arrival day / rental days match etc, and prices.

Then book both as close together as possible.

I would book the flights, then once that transaction is complete, book your accommodation straight away. You may be able to reserve the accommodation with payment to follow...it may be 'payment within 24 hours to secure booking' or something, in which case reserve and then book your flights. I would double check that the accommodation is available (by phone or e mail) and then book flights.

If you do it all at once you will only be booking the, 15 minutes apart.

We usually book a villa package, so we are covered by ATOL protection, you can’t access ATOL protection in my understanding unless you have booked a package holiday.

I hope you have a lovely holiday, we used to book hotel holidays too but after trying a private villa holiday, it is definitely the way to go, much more freedom and privacy IMHO.
