Pulled pork shoulder, slow cooker, how long?!

I've 1kg pork shoulder in slow cooker. I haven't had much luck recently and have managed to over cook joints before. I'm cooking on low, it's had 4 hours but definitely not cooked to be able to pull it. Have I overcooked again or does it need longer and if so how long?

I think I do about 8 hours on low. But I do mine with liquid (a veg, spice, sticky liquid mix) not dry.

On low I let mine go anything up to 8 hours. Less on high. I think it's virtually impossible to over cook pulled pork.
If you want it for this evening I'd turn the cooker to high for a couple of hours.

I've got some water at the bottom, not much though. All the recipes I found are for 6 to 8 hours but much bigger joints, I'm not sure how much less a smaller one would take. I will be gutted if I've managed to ruin another joint!

6ish hours on high, on a bed of onion but no liquid.

I don't think you can overcook a pork shoulder in the slow cooker. I usually put it on low before work, so it gets 12 hours. I wouldn't expect anything to be cooked after 4 hours on low.

O.k. if it gets 8 on low given it's only 1kg do you think it will be o.k.?

8 on low should be fine, just check there's a bit of liquid but as you added some water it should be fine. I do mine in a can of Dr Pepper. Drain the meat, discard the cooking liquid, remove excess fat and skin, shred with two forks. Return to slow cooker with BBQ sauce, pop lid on and reheat.

I always do mine, for first hour on high, then 7 more hours on low.

Thanks for all your suggestions, after 8 hours it was perfect.
