Help me find a car please.

I'm going goggle-eyed looking through car websites!

I'm looking to upgrade to something a bit bigger- a crossover maybe and seem stuck on the Nissan juke or Kia shortage. Since beginning to look, I've noticed that every second car on the road seems to be a juke! I just seem to come back to these 2 but need to look further afield I think.

I've got a reversing camera in my current car and dont know if I could live without it now! I definitely need a big boot for the chunkiest pram in the world and heated windscreen for frosty mornings would be awesome.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Have you actually looked at a juke? The boot isn't big!

Skoda Karoq. Reversing camera, massive boot, plus rear seats remove completely if you wish. Heated windscreen, heated door mirrors, heated seats and steering wheel as an option. Large satnav screen, connectivity, all kinds of stuff. And it’s really comfortable, with plenty of seat and steering wheel adjustment.

Do not, under any circumstances, buy a Nissan Juke. We had a brand new one for a year. It was awful. It's far too small, there's no headroom, or legroom in the back. It was gutless and and the automatic gearbox would stick making it dangerous. I wouldn't touch anything by Nissan again.

The boots on a Renault capture are pretty big. It was a toss up between that and a Peugeot 2008 . The Peugeot won in the end because it was DHs preference

I started looking at VW t cross or t roc, they're nice but over budget for us.
Then looked at seat Ateca and skoda karoq, but still over budget! All lovely, roomy cars.

We went to available car and sat in loads of different makes and models to get a feel for them, and look in the boot, it did change our opinion on a lot of cars we thought we liked.

The Nissan Qashqai was a good size and roomy. Peugeot 3008 too. Juke definitely too small. We went for a Renault Captur in the end and went from looking at £15-20k cars to a £6k car

I've recently needed to buy a new car and one of my requirements was a decent boot.
The best boot space I found within that range was the Skoda Fabia Break. Good space inside and massive boot, in a fairly short car that fits in my garage space.
I'd definitely head towards the Skoda dealership to check what they have.

We had a Nissan Juke on holiday, don't touch it with a bargepole. Boot is tiny, it's really slow and corners like an old bus. Seriously don't bother with the suv types, there's no point. You get just as much room ina hatchback and they drive much better.

MakeMineALargeProsecco · 17/11/2019 10:26

I had the same criteria & ended up getting the base model Kia Sportage. I got one that was 6 months old rather than buying new & bought it using a 2.9% APR loan from M&S rather than PCP.

I would have loved an Ateca, XC40 or CX5 but they were way over budget.

feelingsinister · 17/11/2019 10:27

As others have said, the Juke is actually quite small and not very comfy. The 2008/3008 is nice but I wouldn't touch Peugeot again, ditto Renault.

I'd be considering Mazda CX-5, Qashqai or a Sportage. Maybe even a Mokka for a lower budget. The Sportage is a lot bigger than the others.

MakeMineALargeProsecco · 17/11/2019 10:28

A Quashsquai was next on my list but more expensive & didn't have Kia 7 year warranty.

badfurday · 17/11/2019 10:51

Mazda CX-5 hands down. A lot of car for the money.

socktastic · 17/11/2019 13:38

Thanks for all the advice. I'll not bother looking at the Juke then based o what I'm reading here!

Love my Honda Civic. Huuuge boot, cool foldy uppy rear seats. Much better than focus it replaced. 2013 model. Reliable as anything, quick enough and good mpg.

zaffa · 17/11/2019 18:43

We just bought a Dacia duster and DH loves it. Packed full of Renault tech and very reasonably priced. Boot is big enough for huge pram and all the shopping too

Chewbecca · 17/11/2019 18:51

We went to Nissan to look at the Juke and found it way too small in the rear but ended up buying a Pulsar from them which ticked all our boxes - loads of rear leg room and boot space. About focus sized. Very happy with it.
