Anyone have a Fire tablet for their kids? What size do you recommend? I am thinking of the 8??

Any apps you would recommend for age 4-6?

I'm getting ready for the Black Friday event! Is anyone waiting for anything in particular?

The 8 doesn't go far, I got a 16 in the Prime Day sale, it is quite significantly better. I also pay £1.99 per month for Fire for Kids

I have a regular Fire tablet that I mostly use as a Kindle. Cost about £50, released spring I think this model. Cheap and cheerful.

DD is 10yo (Y6) and has had a 2017 Fire HD8 16GB tablet for a couple of years. We got a regular one reconditioned from Amazon with a Prime deal and it was about £45 and therefore a bargain. It might be worth paying more for the kids one as it comes with a no quibble warranty, which might be useful with a younger kid.

We also have a Kids Unlimited subscription for her and it is really good with lots of apps available. You can also download from the Kindle App Store too for anything that you don't get with the subscription.

The downside is that DD's Fire has filled up quickly because she keeps downloading lots of the free content. I have to keep going through it and removing stuff. Not much stores on the memory card I bought her, so we're mostly stuck on the internal storage. Not a problem, there's so much included content she can't resist it.

We're looking to get her a Fire HD10 over Black Friday/Christmas. Mainly to get one with bigger internal storage and a bigger screen. The kids browser is a bit limited in that we can't get the address bar to disappear so it encroaches on the screen quite a bit on the HD8. Plus I think she could do with more storage. However our 4.5yo DS will get her old Fire HD8.
