I live abroad but want to order some lovely clothes for my goddaughter's 12th birthday in the UK. She is pretty tall so I think moving into adult sizes.
Where do you recommend that sells nice, affordable stuff that she would see as cool but wouldnt' be too sexualized/ tarty? (I have only boys and haven't lived in the UK for a long time.

Thank you!

H&M - their children’s clothes go up to age 16.

You sound lovely, but I wonder if clothes are the best plan if you’re not sure exactly what you’re buying/she’s into? At that age they’re often very particular about what they will and won’t wear and there can be strange local nuances to fashion! Might her parents suggest some specific items?

Urban outfitters, Adidas, pink

H&M my niece is the same age. I sent some options to her Mum and she said she would love them. Long cardigan, long denim tunic. She is pretty tall and could get into an adult size 6 I would think, but her Mum said to go for age 13 as from reviews they come up true to size.

I'd ask her Mum what size she normally buys and go with that. Also got 10% off first order by signing up to newsletter

New Look 915 range (for 9 to 15 year olds).

TheFormidableMrsC · 15/11/2019 21:22

Mint Velvet...Mintie range

Clothes aren't sexualised, it's inappropriate people looking at children in a sexual way that sexualise, nothing to do with how children dress.

And children can't be "tarty"

White Stuff and Fat Face are popular with my 10 year old and her friends. Sales are good value.

Urban outfitters, Vans, topshop, what's her style?

stucknoue · 15/11/2019 21:39

New look have a teen range, H&M adult sizing is pretty slim cut

Chocolateandchats · 15/11/2019 21:40

H&M, River Island and New Look are good.

belleandbete · 15/11/2019 21:47

thanks so much everyone. I will try H&M

I want to buy clothes because her mother isn't into fashion at all and it's an interest she and I share (I have bought her clothes from where I live and she has loved them and has always says she wants me to get her clothes)

As . for the sexualised thing- I don't want to buy clothes that her mum won't like or let her wear.

Thanks for the advice!

Zara is great for girls that age. (Perhaps go up an age if she is tall for her age.). Their children's wear seems so much better quality than the adult wear, it gets handed down through my children. Have a look!

Could you and your GD share ideas online? I have a 10yo and I'm just not sure I could risk buying clothes for her now without her input. She's starting to develop a good sense of her own style, and the chances of me calling it wrong are on the increase Blush.

Top shop and urban outfitters or Champion brand
