Evening all
Long story short - bad head wound needed 12 non-dissolvable stitches
A+E doc said they should come out after 4 days and no longer than 6-7
He also said did not have to keep them dry
Community nurse said they were not at all ready to come out after 4 days and would open wound up again, come back after 8 days
So 8 days after initial stitching went back and was told should not have showered or put vaseline on and was not dry enough for stitches to come out
I have to return 13 days after original suturing
Google says forehead 4-5 days to prevent Frankenstein type scarring but it is going to leave a 6cm scar regardless and I did not want to risk wound opening up so I don't mind waiting but wanted to ask any medics/nurses what the chances now of them becoming infected/embedded are and should they be covered or left to the air?
I have no idea as to dry versus wet healing and scabbing but the nurse today said I should not have washed my hair, got them wet at all or moisturised.
Will be waiting until next week now but any reassurance welcome. I am just not used to being told 3 different things from 3 different practitioners but they've all got my back haven't they? As in, things are subject to change based on their observations?
