So following on from the SUV thread where OP stated that SUV’s are evil. I am looking for a car and I am struggling to choose! I would love a electric car but doubt it’s a option.

Here are my car requirements, can anyone suggest something suitable.

We live remotely, down 8 miles of dirt roads.
We drive 350ish miles a week.
Seating for 2 adults 1DC and 3 large dogs.
Payload capacity of 1000KG
Towing capacity of 5000KG

DH will then modify it with a winch, second battery, and onboard generator.

Any and all ideas welcome

If you’ve got the budget, you could get a hybrid SUV.

Hybrid SUV or Tesla Model X

OP - I assume you are not in the UK as you will not find any car with an official towing capacity of 5000kg here and I think you would need a large van or pickup to get a payload of 1000kg.

Buy something second hand.

The Tesla is too small , and expensive.

Whatever it is it will be second hand.

What are you typically towing?

We tow ATVs, predominantly, an occasional boat. We also cut our own firewood that’s normally 5-7 tons a year.

We rented a GMC Yukon a while ago - 7 seats or 5 seats with a big boot, tows 8,500lbs. It drove really well and coped off road.

If you went with a truck you'd want a 2500 with a crew cab although you'd struggle with 3 large dogs.

I think I'd go with the large SUV.
