What do you do?

Well I wouldn't say happy, so much as have been doing it for years and don't cry at the thought of it... teacher.

BarbaraFromOopNorth · 14/11/2019 17:21

Thanks Drinkcider, I definitely don't want to be a teacher!

I am an INTJ and I work as a manager for a transport company. Whilst I enjoy managing a busy team I do so because it's very stats orientated and I am relied on to complete a lot of the MI reporting and back office support (which are most to my strengths). Managing people is great too, but I do make sure that I have my time to myself if I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.

NoSquirrels · 14/11/2019 17:30

I’m an INFJ - I work as an editor. Requires plenty of empathy and insight, ability to concentrate/work in-depth for fairly intense periods in a solitary fashion as well as work well as a team member. I do a lot of WFH.

Helmetbymidnight · 14/11/2019 17:31

infp - writer- v happy.

are you looking at changing jobs op?

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 14/11/2019 17:34

I'm an INFJ and I'm a historian. I deal only with dead people who can't cause problems or answer back, and I work on my own. It's even better than dealing with numbers! (former accountant). Grin

NotwhereIshouldbe · 14/11/2019 17:38

INFJ here and work with animals and volunteers for a charity. Very rewarding, as I see the difference the dogs make to people with disabilities. I don’t think I would ever cope in the corporate world.

Ohffs66 · 14/11/2019 17:43

INFJ - I'm in client operations in a professional services firm. I'm much happier on the days where I'm doing solitary data analysis type stuff than the days I'm doing project calls and web presentations!! It's a fairly decent mix though, if I had to be super outgoing all the time it'd kill me. I work from home about 20/30% of the time.

onthecoins · 14/11/2019 17:43

Data. It's mostly just me and my spreadsheets. If I have to interact with people I can mainly do it via Skype.

BarbaraFromOopNorth · 14/11/2019 17:59

@Helmetbymidnight I've just changed jobs. Previous job was out and about on my own and working 1:1 with people. New is going to have elements of that but I am at the office base much more and doing lots of group workshops. I just feel a bit stifled at the moment. I hate interruptions/chaos/last minute changes and I'm getting a lot of that at the moment. The role meets my values (helping vulnerable people) but not my work style IYSWIM.

I have a sideline which I could develop (working for myself from home). Just a bit scared of putting myself out there properly.

Just wondered if there was anything else I hadn't thought of!

You ignore it as the Myers Briggs is bad science and you would be just as well following your star sign in the daily paper!

Mammyloveswine · 14/11/2019 18:06

I had to google what on Earth you're on about 🙈🙈

Bookaholic73 · 14/11/2019 18:10

I’m an INFJ and my dream jobs would be
Writer
Historian
Working with animals.

It’s funny the answers to this question has listed all of these!

BarbaraFromOopNorth · 14/11/2019 18:24

Everyone seems to be happier when they are predominantly working on focused tasks on their own. Confused

Psychotherapist

madcatladyforever · 14/11/2019 18:30

What on earth is an INFG.

LeoTimmyandVi · 14/11/2019 18:38

Teacher turned occupational therapist. It appeals to my ‘advocate’ side but I am not a fan of being in the office too much. I prefer being out and about 1-1 working directly with people.

FinallyHere · 14/11/2019 18:39

DSis is an INTJ and recently retired teacher, Being a teacher (and mother and grandmother) was 'all' she ever wanted to be.

Ghoulette1740 · 14/11/2019 18:42

INFJ. Work in publishing but also a historian.

BarbaraFromOopNorth · 14/11/2019 18:44

@LeoTimmyandVi I'm not an OT but something very similar. My old team were very keen on working on group projects/objectives which I largely managed to avoid towards the end. I really do care about people but on my terms I think! Grin

Infp. Civil service - HR / Recruitment.

lavenderlove · 14/11/2019 18:47

INFJ and currently a trainee teacher in a secondary school, I'm enjoying it but I want to move on to a special school and then educational psychology. Interesting to see how many INFJ's mention being teachers! X

WinniePig · 14/11/2019 18:57

Pensions lawyer. Spend day reading legislation, case law, practice notes, writing technical legal advice and drinking tea. It’s fine as jobs go. I have lovely colleagues :-)

SignOnTheWindow · 14/11/2019 19:04

INFJ and was a teacher. I now write and do admin jobs from home.

SignOnTheWindow · 14/11/2019 19:05

Find it really interesting how many were teachers/historians. I was a history teacher!
