6 month wait recommended for coil after c section - anyone else been advised this?

I had seen two GPs both of whom said I could have it straight away, phone up to book with the coil lady and apparently a six month wait is required if you’ve had a caesarean.

I can’t see anything about this online and wondered if anyone else has been told this?

I’ve just had DC3 and very keen to avoid DC4 Grin not had much success with pill or injection in the past, celibacy it is!

I was advised 12 weeks after my c-section, six months seems extreme. Perhaps call a GUM clinic for advice, they tend to be more knowledgable about contraception than GP’s.

I got told I could have it in within 48 hours although I don't know how this would work as the cervix is open for 6 weeks so going to ask again at my midwife appointment next week. There's no way I could wait 6 months I can't use any other contraception other than the copper coil.

Yes the NHS website says it can be done from 4 weeks, she was annoyingly dismissive when I said I’d read about being available sooner and that she’d had c sections herself so knew herself that it takes six months to heal internally.
