Medical circumcision for 3 year old DS

My 3 year old DS is going to have to be medically circumcised after a recent division of adhesions procedure was unsuccessful.

That procedure was bad enough but we were really happy that he didn't need to be circumcised. However, as that didn't work, he will need to have this now and I'm quite anxious about it.

Has anyone had their child go through similar that can reassure me? And tell me what to expect in terms of recovery?

No one? I thought it was common enough that a few people would have responded.

My son had it done for medical reasons too, although he was younger than your son. He coped amazingly, he didn't even notice to be honest. I was nervous and anxious too but it went well and he hasn't had any trouble with it. Recovery was quick we gave him calpol etc to help with any pain he might have had and kept the area clean. He was in nappies so it was easier to keep it protected.

My husband had to have it done in his 30s. He has some issues with loss of sensation, but it has cured all his problems and he had a quick, problem free recovery.

Have only just seen these replies. Thanks!

We met with the consultant last week so DS is now on the waiting list.

Recovery sounds pretty rough tbh. It can't be helped so we'll just need to get on with it.

Hopefully it'll be after Christmas.

My son was 17yrs when he had his for medical reasons. They tried one procedure first which failed and he had to go back for a circumcision three months later. He had it done under a local anaesthetic and recovered well.
