Or prefer a generic boots/body shop type gift set?

Handmade bathroom, aromatherapy oil type stuff.

Neither! Most people dislike receiving toiletries IMO

adaline · 13/11/2019 22:05

I wouldn't like anything homemade because I have sensitive skin and need to know all the ingredients - sorry Blush

fantasmasgoria1 · 13/11/2019 22:06

If it was a knitted or handmade item of clothing, jewellery etc definitely but not toiletries or scented products.

Litsea · 13/11/2019 22:07

Hmmmm. Valid points

I was given a £20 Boots voucher 2 or 3 years ago, I only used it 2 months ago when I thought that they were going under.
So I'd rather have homemade. But I'd prefer homemade soap to oils

Cooroo · 13/11/2019 22:10

No allergies. Home made sounds lovely, generic not.

CalmFizz · 13/11/2019 22:11

No, but I’m quite funny generally about home made things.

motorcyclenumptiness · 13/11/2019 22:12

I'd love some homemade scented veggie soap if you're offeringGrin

ilovetofu · 13/11/2019 22:12

Bottle of homemade Sloe gin suits me 👍

DramaAlpaca · 13/11/2019 22:12

My skin is so sensitive I'd be afraid to use it. I don't like bought sets either, as unless they are unscented I can't use them.

Now if you made me a scented candle, knitted something or crafted something for me I'd be delighted, really touched.

Campurp · 13/11/2019 22:12

Homemade and edible, yesSmile

GrotbagsBetterLookingSister · 13/11/2019 22:12

Some people react quite strongly to certain cosmetics etc so unless they've specifically asked for it I'd avoid giving it, whether that is home made or shop bought.

I appreciate other home/hand made items though and, because they're made with more love and more effort has been put into them, they're more special imo

INeedNewShoes · 13/11/2019 22:13

Definitely not anything that my sensitive skin might dislike and definitely not smelly candle/aromatic oil type things.

Most of my family and friends feel the same.

I do appreciate some handmade things, especially edible things like jars of chutney, sloe gin etc. as long as all ingredients are clearly labelled.

TheReluctantCountess · 13/11/2019 22:13

Either. I like any gifts, especially bath products.

greenlobster · 13/11/2019 22:13

Definitely handmade if it was made with natural ingredients (and preferably with a list of ingredients included)

RaininSummer · 13/11/2019 22:17

Not toiletries but home or garden decor stuff or edibles with a reasonable shelf life ie not truffles which have to be eaten almost immediately.

Litsea · 13/11/2019 22:20

Food is always good.

I love home/handmade!

Slappadabass · 13/11/2019 22:26

I love a handmade present, I would definitely appreciate aromatherapy/bathroom things. But I don't have sensitive skin or allergies so don't have to worry about that.

Im going to make some home made Christmas fudge and cinder toffee this year, to go in small hampers, it's so easy and cheap too. Might be a idea for people that might not like smellies.

I also have sensitive skin and lots of allergies. I would prefer a branded product that I am familiar with (this allows me to try testers and have the certainly that the formulation will be consistent).

Now a homemade sponge cake is a different kettle of fish - yum.

Wond3rment · 13/11/2019 22:39

*certainty

choli · 13/11/2019 22:41

Love home made soap.

Leeds2 · 13/11/2019 22:42

I would prefer a shop bought gift. Although I am quite happy to receive nothing at all!
