It's a year old number plate and I found it in a bush. I love out the way. Not sure if I'm being a bit ott trying to report it but it's definitely been placed there as it's away from the path and I live in the middle of nowhere...

Sorry - why would you report it???

KurriKawari · 13/11/2019 18:08

Hand it in to the nearest police station. Sounds like manybe someone stole a car or didnt want ANPR to pick them up so stashed it away. The location it was found would obvs provide police with evidence that the vehicle was in that vicinity. Might all be innocent but you never know.

It could be a cloned plate discarded by a car thief. It’s worth reporting it to 101.

Freeshavocado · 13/11/2019 18:28

I would just hand it into your local police station (easier said than done these days I know). My colleague had his plates nicked a few weeks ago and got a call from the police 2 days later telling him they had been handed in and just after he had spent £30 on new ones!

blueraindrop · 13/11/2019 18:30

Ah yes thanks I will hand it in didn't even think to do that. @Ffsnosexallowed for all of the above reasons

I found front and back plates shoved in a hedge. I phoned 111, read them the number plate and they asked me to drop it off at the police station as it was linked to a crime.

Ladsladslads · 13/11/2019 18:36

101 that should be. The NHS definitely would not be interested Grin

KnifeAngel · 13/11/2019 19:25

Yes we reported some recently. They came and collected them. They use them on robberies.

EstebanTheMagnificent · 13/11/2019 19:57

Yes, hand it in at the station. It could be a cloned plate or it could have been removed from a stolen car.

Oh dear I didn't go back but will go back to the spot tomorrow. Got a feeling they won't be there anymore and looked up the registration and the vans for sale in a different country now 🤔

Sorry should clarify I didn't pick them up as had nothing to carry them in but did take a photo.
