I am trying to lose weight so I treated myself to some posh tins of sardines.
Yummy!

Any recommendations for which one to open?

The one with fish in Grin

Hmm I'm not sure how fish in oil fits into your diet?!? Are you calorie counting?

As for which to open - the white box is opening on its own so that's the one you should eat. Enjoy.

Re losing weight, I figured it must be better than big bowl of comfort pasta!

White box it is....

I often have a half tin of sardines either dry fried with chopped tomatoes, spinach and mushroom or grilled with uncooked spinach leaves with a splash of lemon. I just drain the oil. Thats not my main meal either, comes in between 200-300 cal.

@somebrightmorning

You'll have to let us know the differences, ive only ever tried the 35-40p value ones

Mumdiva99 · 13/11/2019 12:50

Probably is better than pasta - good luck.

@Volcanion ....yes, you are calorie counting.....

LittleLongDog · 13/11/2019 12:50

I’ve never been able to face a sardine but I’m intrigued. The idea of eating bones has always put me off. Do they crunch?

Redshoeblueshoe · 13/11/2019 12:53

LittleLongDog they are soft not crunchy, just mash them and have them on toast

Branster · 13/11/2019 13:00

Choose the one with the nearest expiry date.
You lot are very creative. I usually just put them on toast if I have them for lunch.

somebrightmorning · 13/11/2019 13:22

The white ones are very tasty but don't pass the "as good as the ones we had in northern Spain on holiday" test.

They look very beautiful when you take them out though.....

Id get some mackeral in spicy tomato sauce instead.
Oily fish in more oil isnt exactly diet friendly

Mumdiva99 · 13/11/2019 16:47

We're the ones in Spain fresh or tinned? I love a fresh sardine cooked on the BBQ . A tinned one I wouldn't cross the street for....😂

SpoonBlender · 13/11/2019 17:42

Like Branleuse, I'm always on the mackerel. So much tastier from the tin. Or fresh from the sea, for that matter.

OP, if you want ones like on holiday, you need to buy fresh, not tinned!

somebrightmorning · 13/11/2019 17:48

surely diet-friendly compared to tiger-bread-at-the-desk?
