Kindle Fire Virgin

Thinking of getting our 8 and 6 year olds Kindles for Christmas but don’t know which model is best.

Been looking at the Fire 8 - does anyone have either the normal version or the kids one and can recommend? Or another model?

We would like them to be able to access YouTube, Roblox, download films for on the go, and have Alexa. Do any of the models have all of these?

Thank you.

I would buy them the biggest one that you can afford and I would get them normal Fire's but make sure that the Parental Security settings are set to stop them watching stuff they shouldn't ,

However, the main thing is to get as much storage as you can afford and also put an SD card in them for extra storage. They fill up amazingly quickly once they start downloading stuff and taking videos of their pets/toys/house/friends/anything they come across Grin.

If you have Netflix you can set them up with a kids account so that they can't watch adult content.

Thank you @bobsyourauntie.

So the kids one is not worth the extra money?

Thanks for the tip about the extra memory.

I personally wouldn't say the kids one is worth the extra money. I know that they come in a protective case etc, but you can still buy other cases for a normal Kindle. I would recommend the case as obviously it is a stand and helps to protect the screen when not in use.

Is Black Friday next week? They are usually reduced a bit then.

My DD had a kindle when she was around 7 and I had to get her another one 2 years later as the original was full and slow. With the extra storage in the new one, she has still not filled it now, 2 years on .
