Concert are Olympic Park- Help!

RedRedWhining · 12/11/2019 22:21

We are attending a concert at London Stadium at the Olympic Park next year. I’ve had a look at hotels (we just went cheap and cheerful) but the travel lodge next door is £300! So we are thinking of just booking. Hotel in London centre and getting the tube to and from. I am assuming it’s very easy to get there and back? Can anyone recommend a hotel (anything like premier inn, ibis etc) is fine. We literally don’t know where to start looking!

Thanks

The Travelodge at Docklands is 5mins walk from the DLR and I think takes about 15m to get to Stratford and then a walk/cab to the park

I've stayed there a couple of times and it's fine if basic

Try Cheshunt , there is a great YHA (lea valley) next to station where you can get a train direct to Stratford.

Theres a travelodge at hackney central which is right next to train station directly to Stratford, 3 stops.

We stayed at Docklands Travelodge last year when we went to a gig. Got the DLR and it was about £130 for three of us in a room. Pretty much everyone in the hotel that night had been at the concert I think

Yoollyball · 12/11/2019 22:31

Premier inn Stratford- 10 mins walk away.

OverByYer · 12/11/2019 22:31

Yes I would say any budget hotel along the DLR would be a good bet. I drive when I went to the Olympic Park and pre-booked a space in the Westfield shopping centre car park

Travelodge Finsbury park(wasn't that clean but we complained and got money off). Very central. Try anywhere on the overground with links to Stratford. All very walkable.

Loads of options. Highbury and islington. Just use the overground map and price hotels that way.

RedRedWhining · 12/11/2019 22:36

Brilliant! Thanks everyone, you’ve all been so helpful. We live about a 2 hours train ride away from London so driving isn’t really doable. I’ll take a look at all your suggestions now.

Thanks again

Docklands Travelodge has parking so we drove down and left the car there. Checked in and then got DLR to Stratford.

Plump82 · 14/11/2019 15:01

Have you looked at the Premier Inn next to the park for prices? We stayed there for a concert and 2 nights was £160.

RedRedWhining · 14/11/2019 15:36

Yeah I looked at there but it was £300!! I’ve just relooked and it’s sold out now anyway. Think we’ll book the docklands, we can’t drive though because we can’t leave until 2.30 on the day so
Driving will be cutting it too fine :( thanks again for everyone’s help!

Have you looked at both the premier inn and travelodge in Stratford?

If not, there are I think 3 premier inns, a travelodge and a youth hostel with 10 mins of St Pancras. You can then get the train from St P to Stratford International in 7 mins and it’s less then 10 mins to the park, walking.

RedRedWhining · 14/11/2019 17:22

Yeah I’ve had a look, the premier inn is sold out and the travel lodge is £200 for the night! I think maybe I am grossly underestimating how much ‘cheap and cheerful’ will be Confused

But I’ll have a look at your other suggestions near St Pancras. Thanks!
