Boring bathroom tiles question - wwyd?

Doing en suite and have to choose tiles by tomorrow!

Option 1: lovely hotel-type tiles that look like pale natural stone, with a slightly rough finish. There’s a textured tile available for an accent stripe around the shower /room. But! The builder says tiles with that finish are really hard to keep clean and they pick up grot.

Option 2: nice light tiles with more of an industrial distressed look. Porcelain finish so easier to keep clean, but not as hotel-posh and no accent tile available. So the room would be solid same tile with no relief.

Heart says stone tiles, head says distressed industrial look and easy cleaning. Wwyd?

Who will be cleaning the tiles? If it'll be you, go with the industrial style ones. I have a totally tiled bathroom with no accent tiles or borders or anything. It looks great.

Never pick a tile that a builder says will pick up grot - what he means is that it's impossible to lay without staining it. It'll look terrible.

Go with your heart. I can guarantee you'll regret it if you don't. As long as you don't mind the cleaning, which if you do regularly should be fine.

We have a cleaner but I suspect it’ll need a deep clean every now and then. The tile isn’t completely rough and it will be sealed, it’s just not as smooth as porcelain.

I’d like to go with the nicer tile and I don’t mind an occasional deep clean, as long as it can actually be cleaned!

Go for the large tile but with no accent / border

Porcelain tiles. Our bathroom tiles sound similar to your option 1 - slightly rough and I’ve never been able to get them clean. Luckily we use the en-suite mainly and this is the family bathroom, but it always feels a bit dirty when I go in, I so an see dust collecting and just can’t get rid. We inherited them with the house. Redoing it next year, cannot wait.
