I'm posting this in chat because I think I've used up my AIBU quota for the month.

So, DP and I are currently out of work. 2 DS's.

Applied for UC a few weeks ago. I applied for a weekend position which I was accepted for. I've since been offered 2 full time positions. One is in the civil service. I've been in touch with HR and they've said I should get a call by Friday to offer me the position.

My issue is...the weekend position starts next week (23rd). I have zero intention of working 7 days a week (after posting about the possibility and getting very good advice.)

However, being on UC, would I still be expected to take the weekend job knowing I'd have to leave within a couple of weeks time?

I'm on the intensive job search at the job centre. Expected to find work at minimum wage for at least 16 hours a week. The weekend job is 15 hours a week.

For what it's worth, the CS job start date is the 18th of this month...

I've already confirmed with the JC that I have accepted the weekend job but it's an hour short of what they need.

Any help would be much appreciated x

I should have mentioned, I've only received verbal confirmation of the CS job.

Take the weekend job until you have official confirmation of the civil service job and a firm start date then hand your notice in. I've worked in the civil service and the NHS, both jobs had a start date which was then delayed for various reasons (NHS was due to the DBS checks not coming back in time and civil service was due to the person doing the new starter training being off sick). At the very least the income from the weekend job will give you some cash until your civil service salary starts coming in.
