House viewings?

Do estate agents generally tell you the name of the people wishing to view your property? Does anyone know if there are any confidentiality rules relating to this?

They give you a name not sure how accurate it is though they could tell you anything

Not many agents check potential buyers ID before a viewing but they do ask your name, current address and contact details.

Why?

We got emails from our agent before each one confirming times and their full name.

DappledThings · 11/11/2019 15:54

We only got names when we received an offer.

I got the names of people I was showing round and was told the name of the vendor when they showed me around. I got told the name of those viewing when I got feedback but all of these were only Mr & mrs Smith, or Ms Brown or suchlike.

Are you doing the viewing yourself, or does the agent do it when you aren't there ?
If you are there, it would seem polite to introduce you, and if the agent isn't coming, then it would be a tiny bit of protection to say Mrs Smith will come to yours at 6pm, so you don't start showing the next JW or dishcloth salesman round your hose by mistake.

They always casually mentioned 'dave' etc, but on a report of our progress we could see full names as given by the viewer (so not ID checked).

My agent did all the viewings but texted me the appointment times and names of all the viewers.
