Do you put your trainers/other footwear in the washing machine?

They're a bit muddy and it's been suggested I just throw them in the wash.

I am a bit weirded out by this idea seeing as the trainer soles have god-knows-what all over them, there is all sorts over the pavements as well as the mud on them.

I know I could run a bleach wash afterward and I know the purpose of the machine is to get dirty things clean again.

So do you wash your trainers etc in the machine?

Yes!

I get rid if as much mud etc as possible & then put in washing machine.

Yes
I put them in with other stuff so they don't bang about
Low spin speed so they don't end up with banana shaped soles

I always used to for years, until one particular pair disintegrated. Now I don't.

icecreamsundae32 · 10/11/2019 16:18

No as washing machine ruined some expensive nike trainers! My friend felt so bad as she'd recommended I put them in the wash, so the one time I tried it they were ruined lol!

Candle1000 · 10/11/2019 16:20

I do , put them in with a couple of towels to stop them banging .

flobonobo · 10/11/2019 16:21

Quick wash on 30 or 40 max. Higher temps will ruin the glue and they fall apart. I wash mine every couple of weeks

Myshitisreal · 10/11/2019 16:30

I do as needed on a 30 degree quick wash. Sometimes i put in a pillowcase with a towel, and seal the pillowcase with a hair bobble. Just rinse excess dirt off first. I only do as needed

My sons wellies go in every week! 30 degree wash, come out good as new.
