Square shaped gestational sac :-(

Hi everyone, just looking for some positive stories to help me through this week.
I had a mmc back in June I found out at my 12 week scan that the baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks, totally unexpected :-(

My partner and I started trying again straight away (well when bleeding and things stopped) I got a positive pregnancy test a few weeks ago and am 6 weeks and 5 days, but have bled brown blood for the last 2 weeks, I thought the worst but after an early scan I saw the little heartbeat and was delighted, but the woman went on to say how I've got a blood clot sitting above the gs, and also my gestational sac is very irregular shaped, it's almost square, I'm thinking the worst as everything I've looked up has been bad endings. I'm just looking for some hope, I've got another scan next Monday so see how things are going, but the way the midwife was answering my questions in a round about way, I will not got much hope! Has anyone ever had a very irregular GS and clot and still went on to have a normal pregnancy? Going out of my mind!

Oh wow that's a rollacoaster, best of luck with your next scan.
What did the MW say about it?
"Just wait until the next scan" probably?

Hi! Yeh that's basically it, she wouldn't say whether she's ever seen a gs that looked like mine and the pregnancy went on to be normal. She just kept answering in round about ways which makes me think it doesn't look good :-( everyday seems like a week! She said if I carry on bleeding brown blood it's fine but if it turns red and heavy I've to phone them. This week is going to be a nightmare!

Op, I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

Did the sonographer not give you any indication of the likely outcome? If they'd seen this before etc?

Wishing you all the best x

Thanks for your reply @OreoCheeseCake no she never seemed to answer that exact question neither would the midwife, they both just said only time would tell. I've yet to come across someone who says Yes I've had that and everything was fine, it's just so worrying!

That's incredibly frustrating. It sounds more like an external cause to me. I.e , the position of the sack is pushing against something, causing the unusual shape, but I'm no medical expert.

This week will undoubtedly be very hard, but if you can possibly find a way to distract yourself, that could take the edge off.

This might sound silly, but is there a box set you've wanted to see, but haven't yet?

Any distraction is good right now.

Hello do you have an update on what happened my daughter has just been told she has the same thing these are chorionic bumps it’s bleeding pushing down on the sac cause it to take that shape x how did the pregnancy go ?

Mumsthewordd · 28/11/2023 14:52

I'm just picking him up from nursery 😀 all went fine. I had alot if bright red bleeding, standing in my bathroom with my pants round my ankles crying to my hubby that there is no way a baby could be in there with all that blood... But here we are ❤️
Good luck to your daughter, hope all goes well. I wouldn't worry about the shape of the sac, no one seemed as bothered as me that mine was square. And we'll it worked just fine :-)
