Already got constant loose stools so not bothered about that.. but has anyone had one? Do you get the results there and then? I already feel sick and have heart burn and I've not even started the moviprep!

I’ve had one, the prep is much worse than the actual thing. But in reality it’s only worse because you can’t stray far from the loo. If you’ve already started the prep it’s not worth me saying really, but I’ve found the least you eat before it the better. You’ll be starving tomorrow though. Good luck you’ll be fine

Rosehip345 · 10/11/2019 03:22

Oops just read you’ve not yet started! What you’ve got is nerves!
I got my results there and then. I was awake for it so maybe that’s why?

whinetime89 · 10/11/2019 03:25

I have had 3 and bloody hate them. Like pp said prep is worse than the actual.procedure. I just watched lots of Netflix and went as I needed. Make sure you do prep properly as nurse was tellong me people rock up and they havnt prepped properly so they can't do the procedure

I've had my third recently and they give you the results on the spot, but this Au and private insurance.

Disclaimer: over a certain income in Au , if you don't have private health insurance you get hit with a bigger tax bill. Go figure. Oh, hang on......:o Hmm

The prep has improved as more tabs and less fluids. But Vaseline is still your best friend. Wink

Tapbath · 10/11/2019 04:07

The prep was awful but the procedure was fine, I did it with gas and air wasn't bad at all.

Dowser · 10/11/2019 05:06

7 years since mine
Yes prep was awful. Definitely eat lightly before you do it.
I had no polyps or anything
Everything was pink and healthy ...thank god

echt · 10/11/2019 06:21

Hello, Dowser. Not stalking or owt, but not seen you about for yonks. Glad all is pink and healthy. : o

NewYoiker · 11/11/2019 01:08

Of its cancer or IBD will they tell me there and then?

OP posts:
dippywhentired · 11/11/2019 01:42

I've had 3, but am not in the UK and was heavily sedated each time. Once I'd come round, I was seen by the doctor and told what they found. The prep was the worst part of it every time.

Duckbill794 · 11/11/2019 07:10

They’ll be able to tell you as they’re doing it if they can see any areas of inflammation but they’ll take biopsies which will need to go to pathology for analysis.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 11/11/2019 07:13

The prep is the worst bit. I've had five or six colonscopies (Crohn's-colitis) and they're not fun but they are tolerable. Can be quite interesting too; not often you see inside your own body!

Dowser · 11/11/2019 07:55

Hi echt
I’m surprised you haven’t seen me, I’m on every day making the usual inane comments 😂

I’m pretty good with the occasional ibs flare up But since going gf and df in July these are less frequent

Hope you are good too

Dowser · 11/11/2019 07:56

Sil is doing his prep today

blahblahblahblahhh · 11/11/2019 07:56

The moviprep is way worse than the actual procedure!

blahblahblahblahhh · 11/11/2019 07:57

They won't be able to tell you there if you have cancer as you'll need histology report on biopsies doing.

Gilead · 11/11/2019 08:02

I have Ulcerative Colitis so have these with boring regularity. As others have said, the prep is the worst bit. Try not to worry too much, they are very experienced. Again as others have said, they usually tell you about inflammation, polyps and biopsies will be sent for analysis. Good luck and take it easy, the prep takes it out of you in more ways than one!

NewYoiker · 11/11/2019 08:12

Second litre of prep was consumed at 6am.. not sure why tbh as after the first lot last night I was literally peeing out of my bum sorry if that's too much info! There's nothing in there! I've banished DH from the bathroom today!

Thought this might provide a giggle op, either that or I’ve just got a really warped sense of humour

@Insomniacscientist I love that!

I’m an endoscopy nurse, NHS.
Prep is the worst bit for most people.
You do get your results there and then, as much as they can. They obviously can’t tell you biopsy results until they are back in a few weeks. But if they suspect cancer or any condition is obvious they absolutely will tell you. If there is a tumour they will tell they think it’s cancer.
You also get a print out which tells you why you had it, what they did, what they saw, what happens next.
And we give you tea and toast after.
Good luck!

Toomboom · 11/11/2019 10:09

My son has had a few colonoscopies [ he has crohns ]. The prep is the worst part. We always get told results there and then. If they take biopsies these will sent off and you will get results in a few weeks. Good luck

NewYoiker · 11/11/2019 14:41

I've got some paper pants with a bum flap Blush

Insomniacscientist · 19/11/2019 04:13

@NewYoiker how did you get on? How are you feeling now?

NewYoiker · 19/11/2019 22:16

Crohn's disease and I'm on a liquid diet for 8 weeks to see if that helps, also on infliximab p

Insomniacscientist · 19/11/2019 23:29

@NewYoiker goodness that would have been quite a shock although at least now you have an answer. Hope you have some support irl and that the liquid diet and medication regime help.
