Fucking fireworks still going off

Sunday night it sounded like a gun battle outside for nearly 30mins. And I live in a place where a gun battle is highly unlikely plus no sounds of sirens or police helicopter so am assuming it was fireworks...
The cat retreated under the chest of drawers yet again & I put on my flak helmet & armoured vest and practised saying 'And this is Kate Adie reporting from the Afghanistan border.....' in the mirror.
