Boring one - school shoes

DC seems to be incapable of making school shoes last more than 3 months before they fall apart!
I’ve spent ranges from cheap (shoezone), mid (Sainsbury’s) and expensive (Clark’s) but no joy
Is this just one of those things I have to suck up or are there shoes that actually last?? Recommendations please

Dr martens or kickers, not actually that more expensive than Clarks but mine had grown out of them before they have worn though

Oh I hadn’t thought of that, DMs could work well - thanks

Umm. It sure how old your son is, but we always buy Geox. They are by far the best wearing shoes we have come across, but more expansive than Clark’s.

Hush puppies are good. Clark's not great imo

Depends on child age/size. My dd's shoes used to last about 6 weeks before she wore through them so stopped buying expensive ones. As long as they were comfortable for her. Feet stopped growing about age 13 so tended to buy online rather than high street as better quality brands were cheaper.

BlueEyedFloozy · 09/11/2019 14:18

My 6yo is the same - we've tried Clarks, M&S, Tesco and Hush Puppies. They all look worn out within 4 months as she likes to climb every tree, jump in every puddle and is generally pretty rough on shoes whilst scooting/cycling etc.

Last year we bought Superfit boots for winter - they're pricey at £60 but despite wearing them in and out school everyday from October to May they still look fine but she's outgrown them. Just about to buy her another pair and think we'll just stick with them from start of year from now on.

Another vote for superfit and geox. All of mine trashed Clarks in no time. My boys have done ok in startrite, dd went through hers every 3 months. I cant use supermarket ones as mine have very narrow feet and they fall off.

TeenPlusTwenties · 09/11/2019 16:38

DD had Startrite for most of primary and into early secondary. They lasted a year at least. Occasionally we had to have other brands for fit reasons and they didn't seem as good.
Now she is in Clarkes 'Bootleg' (or similar name) which also last a year.

She doesn't play football in them but does walk to and from school.

If its boys, Geox savage are worth every penny.

Thanks all
I’m giving some start rite a go (I seem to remember them from my school days!) but if we have the same problem then geox and superfit are on the list x
