Hair inhibitor spray

Ok this is a bit of a boring random one but has anyone used a hair growth inhibitor spray or cream?

I'm in my early 40s and I'm really struggling with hair on my face. To the point where I'm getting embarrassed to leave the house.
It's only been bad for the last 6 months but I just can't keep on top of it now.

I pluck daily and have one of those spring thingies that pluck the hairs out but it's not enough. The hairs are thick black ones and are so noticeable, even with plucking daily. Also, there are times that I can't pluck them because they're too short or still under the skin but can still be seen because they're black stubble spots, if that makes sense?

I'd LOVE one of those light things to zap them but I can't afford one. I really need a cheaper way to manage this because it's starting to really affect me.
I found myself considering trying to dig out the roots or damage the skin to try to stop the growth the other night!

I know this would only hurt me so I won't do it but the fact I considered it, even briefly, shocked me.

Any help or advice please? I'm at my wits end.
