More terrible advice telling you to go low carb! Women especially shouldn't go on low carb diets

🤣🤣🤣🤣

My size ten body which is in the gym six days a week is proper hanging onto fat you're right. Doh. I wondered why that was. 🤣

Seriously shall we play a game of all googling studies so we can prove our point? I've got a great one on elvis is still alive ...

PearlsBeforeWine · 09/11/2019 11:06

Honestly?

Eat soup.
Drink. Plenty.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 09/11/2019 11:11

There is no magic cure. NOTHING is going to magically make you slim.

You need to eat healthy food, exercise a bit and be patient. Being slim is sodding hard work 🤷🏻‍♀️

What do you want more that crisp/sweet/slice of bread/ wine or to be slim??

Sparklfairy · 09/11/2019 11:24

OP hasn't asked specifically about being slim, just about staving off hunger.

Yes to low carb high fat. The fat keeps you feeling full. Carbs increase insulin production leading to a crash and more carb cravings.

Watch your protein too. I have two eggs in the morning scrambled in butter, sometimes a handful of grated cheese and I'm not hungry even by lunchtime.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 09/11/2019 11:37

OP people will tout the old lines, Just eat healthy like it is so easy to do!! I know I've been there. Also diet mentality is so depressing!!
Here's what changed my life; daily intermittant fasting.
Once your body adjusts you will not feel hungry, just as long you drink only water or black coffee. Basically you eat what you want in an eating window. Your body will naturally crave healthy stuff once you are adjusted.
I could'nt do 5:2 ( where you fast for two days and eat normally the rest) You just end up dreading your fast days. Do it every day and it really gets easy. Then eat what you want!!
Read Dr Fungs The Obesity Code or Delay, Don't Deny if you fancy something easier to follow. This will explain why it is so good for you, encouraging cell renewal, anti aging etc...
If is the easiest and most effective appetite suppressant available.

BreadAndButterNutter · 11/11/2019 17:01

I've done intermittent fasting before. I lost a lot of weight (nearly 6 stone) , but put most of it back on (about 4).I just can't get back to it or anything, and I am hungry all the time. I'm in a bad place.

Being in ketosis is very bad for your health and not advise people should be giving

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 11/11/2019 17:48

I think your mindset is in a bad place at the moment.
You managed to lose 6 stone!!! That's loads and you are still 2 stone down from where you were.
Get back on it. What's the alternative?!
I read the book I referenced earlier and joined the support FB group. Support is really important when you are trying not to eat too much.
Also it may be worth considering if anything else is going on. Maybe go to the docs and get you bloods and thyroid checks done. If your not feeling you best it can be hard to stay on track with anything ..

Bluntness100 · 11/11/2019 17:50

Being in ketosis is very bad for your health and not advise people should be giving

No it's not, do some research before posting.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 11/11/2019 17:53

Also someone mentioned that ketosis is bad for you!
Ketosis is a natural state your body goes into to burn fat. It can be very good for you. This is supported by numerous studies.
Low carb diets ,which encourage ketosis are being used currently to treat disorders such as epliepsy.
However, for lots of people it does not work long term and can be a stressor on the body. Some people thrive on it. We are all different in how we respond to various diets. No one size fits all.

MikeUniformMike · 11/11/2019 18:09

Have a protein rich breakfast instead of a carb rich one. Cut right down on carb rich snacks.

springydaff · 11/11/2019 18:23

Are people looking for an easy way round the basic principals of calorie deficit?

Some of us have issues with food and are simply incapable of controlling our eating. Would you tell an anorexic to "just eat"?

Op, try OA. Perfect place for the desperate xx

Woodlandwitch · 11/11/2019 18:33

Bluntness - yes it is. Plenty of people have said it and it’s quite easy to see the advise against it.

Gallstones are the most common result of long term ketosis

Don’t go recommending something that could cause people harm

BreadAndButterNutter · 11/11/2019 18:38

Are people looking for an easy way round the basic principals of calorie deficit?

You know, I've done the calorie deficit thing, I've done the exercise.. I achieved a considerable weight loss.. But it's not a one time thing.. It requires a lifetime of self denial.. And much like an addict (and overeating is an addiction, make no mistake) I couldn't maintain it. I'm not lazy, I'm not stupid. I'm fat and I'm slightly desperate. Would I like something to help me? Yes, I would. I'm not ashamed of that.

Anecdotally from my daughter, but Green tea capsules are suppressing her appetite. She seems impressed with them.

MyDaisyField · 11/11/2019 18:48

I think green tea works because it can give you the squirts so you get stomach cramps. Not particularly pleasant.

The only thing I’ve found that absolutely kills my appetite is cocaine. I’m a sahm these days though so it’s not compatible Grin

MikeUniformMike · 11/11/2019 19:15

Could the problem be the self denial.
If I want a cake, I eat the cake. I don't eat an apple instead because I will still want the cake and will end up eating everything I can get my hands on because I still want the cake. So called healthy options like low fat tend to not hit the mark.

I know that some food will make me overeat, so I avoid them.
I find that starting a meal with a salad helps. Soup is supposed to but I don't like soup.

LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone · 11/11/2019 19:17

@MyDaisyField
My daughter reports no squirts. Only that she's not hungry.
Maybe it's different for some people.

Hurdygurdy24 · 11/11/2019 19:18

There’s a new one out.

It’s amazing

It’s called “w1llpow3r”

BIWI · 11/11/2019 19:23

@Woodlandwitch there's a big difference between being in ketosis and keeping your carbohydrate intake low(er).

eminems · 11/11/2019 19:24

Look at a plant based diet, you can eat and eat and eat and still be calorie deficient. Been doing it now 4 months and whilst I've only lost 4 PDs (now 8.7 stone) I am not killing myself on diets and gym, I'm eating so much, am full all the time and so much more alert and healthy.

INeedToGetHealthy · 11/11/2019 19:27

OP. I have fallen off the IF wagon recently too, so I understand your frustration. It is the only thing that has helped me to lose weight recently. You have most probably read or listened to Dr Jason Fung's The Obesity Code book. If I'm struggling, I go back to this.

PatMullins · 11/11/2019 19:29

Cocaine

wheresmymojo · 11/11/2019 19:52

Do you overeat because of your emotions?

If so, then the issue is your emotions - you won't solve overeating until you solve what it is that is causing you to overeat.

It's a symptom....

wheresmymojo · 11/11/2019 19:53

This guy is helping me at the moment...
