I have my own cleaning business. Going really great.
I've had an email from a lady with a 4 bed house wanting a weekly clean to do bathroom kitchen floors hoovered and mopped throughout ( no problem here as will quote my hourly rate )
She also wants 1 hour a day between 8-9 am Mon - Fri for a breakfast aftermath clear up ( has kidies) wash up dry up, make beds, put a wash on / put dry clothes away.
I can only do weds to Fri as am busy with work/ getting to work Mon and Tues. ( I have not replied to her yet, want to get everything sorted first)
I don't know how to quote for that, as it's not a clean she's wanting. Do I just say my normal hourly rate? My rate for cleaning then a lower hourly rate for the morning tidy up, or, come up with one figure for the mornings and the weekly clean?
Hope this makes any kind of sense ! Thanks!

Good grief don't quote a lower rate! A single hour is a pain IMO so bump your usual rate up a bit to compensate for travelling time etc.

Good point there 🙈

I'd charge 1.5 your hourly rate for the hour jobs? And explain why

Mumdiva99 · 07/11/2019 19:46

The other thing to think is how often do you get a long job in the morning...is a short commitment likely to stop you picking up other more lucrative work? (Is it really worth your inconvenience for just 1 hour?)

If I wanted someone to come and do that, I’d expect to pay for the their wasted travel time every day too. So maybe 2h pay to come for an hour.
In your shoes I’d also think hard if it’s worth it as most people seem to want a cleaner for 3-4h. That means you can clean 2 houses a day. With this random job, it could make it more difficult unless you want shorter or longer hours overall.

Hmm. You've given me a few things to think about there that I hadn't thought of.

Well I've emailed her back. Quoted for weekly house clean but turned down the daily hour. I could have only done 3 times a week anyway, it reduces the slots I could offer other people because of finishing there and getting to them. And, selfishly I want to take my own kids to school, I have 4 and I'm on my last firsts with the youngest who has started reception.
