In a few hours, I have an excellent opportunity to humiliate myself or maybe make a thing happen.
I'm pitching an idea for a show, just 6 episodes, so not really a show, but still on tv.
One one hand, I am so excited to share my ideas, I am passionate about this, and I think others are as well.
On the other hand, I swear profusely, talk too much, and can sound patronizing , and tend to red face and shiney.
Why am I doing this to myself?!

Please Mumsnet, can I get a stern talking to?

Take a deep breath, remember why you’re doing it and be (rightly) proud of what you’ve got to tell them. They are there to hear you, they want to know about it.

You’ve got this, best of luck!

Oh my God, are you me?? Poor thing, if so!

Seriously though OP. That sounds really fucking exciting. If it helps, I think you're already a legend for getting yourself in front of said pitchees. Good luck! At worst you'll have a great story to regale us with later.

And if I actually die of embarrassment, it might even make the papers....

Exactly, worse case scenario we all get a great story on here and you get your face in the papers! Come on, you’ve got this 💪🏻

Op deep breaths, keep calm and just be you. Try to stick to your points and not go off at tangents too much and answer and questions as succinctly as poss. The person/people you're talking too will have seen all this sort of thing so many times, and they are generally really kind and helpful. (Am in the industry and seen/heard quite a few)
Just be honest and passionate about your 'baby'

And I am back...
Good news, bad news, good news

Good news, they really love the idea and think I am a great fit, and she loved the guide book I wrote.

Bad news, they can only provide the air time, and do not have the resources to do that much location shooting for a full series, as they are a community channel.

Good news, they want to do an on location 10 minute piece about me for their magazine show, and based on the responses to that, are looking to have me do a longer in studio interview.
Also, because she really loved the idea, she is going to put it forwards to one of the production companies and put them in touch with me.

All in all, not too shabby, and it gives me a chance to a least get another smaller project under my belt.

Thank you for helping to not freak out!Smile
