I had a job interview today. And I actually went and did it.

I've been suffering with depression and anxiety for a while, and the past year has been horrific. I quit my job (as it was a major factor) and I felt ready to get back into something I'm passionate about.

I've had a few interviews lined up but cancelled last minute due to my anxiety and having a panic attack before leaving the house / on a bus / in a taxi etc.

But today I did it. I loaded myself up on propranolol, got in a taxi, I took some deep breaths before walking through the doors and it all went fine. I waffled and was cringey, but I made them laugh and saw some nodding / smiling and note taking while I was answering the questions.

Even if I do get this job I feel like it's a massive hurdle I've overcome! I've told my partner and he's proud but I just felt like shouting it from the rooftops (on mn!) as it's really no big deal to most people, but it's massive to me!!

Great feeling isn’t it. I had to push myself to go to an interview after being in my last job forever. I was so scared but got it and it’s been fantastic.

Massive congratulations @RavenLG! As someone who has also been suffering from anxiety, panic attacks and depression for the last year (also largely due to my job!) I get how much of a big deal this is! You've inspired me to go and smash it at my interview next week!

Thanks all. Still not heard anything (was told “early next week”) however I did email one of the interviewers yesterday evening to follow up and received an out of office which was set to return today so fingers crossed I hear soon although not holding out much hope now.

I do however have another interview tomorrow and another on Friday so sat researching and practicing for those today.

Ah well done! The interview is the worst bit and practice is key to getting more comfortable with them, so a huge step either way.

Worst case scenario is that you've got the ball rolling, you've made that mental leap .

It’s a massive accomplishment and you should be very very proud of yourself.

Just to update everyone, I didn’t get the first job I’m gutted as I was super passionate about the charity and the role but that’s the way things go I suppose. They did say I was a very strong candidate and interviewed well so I suppose that’s a plus but you hear that all the time lol.

Interview today didn’t go great but will see what happens tomorrow.
