Ferne McCann potty training on tv

So I am just watching the new series of Ferne McCann's show and she has decided to potty train her daughter. She got the "professional potty trainer" round, took off the little girls nappy and made her sit on the potty all live on the show.

Thankfully certain bits were blurred out, but only at the last minute and her bottom was not.

They literally showed Ferne taking the nappy off, blurred her vagina at the last minute and then showed her bare bottom sitting on the potty.

I just felt it was totally unnessacary and massively embarrassing for the little girl in the future. Why do we need to see such a private moment? I know it's a reality show, but that was such a private moment. Makes me so angry what is wrong with these people who want to show the whole world every detail of their children's lives?

How do you cope seeing babies bare bottoms on nappy adverts?
Non starter for me, sorry!

yomommasmomma · 07/11/2019 11:26

Obviously I have no issue seeing the babies bottom! I am saying that this very private moment should not have been shown on tv and it makes Ferne comes across as someone who will do anything to get paid including using her daughter and she doesn't care about her daughters dignity.

Who the fuck needs a professional potty trainer?! What a load of bollocks.

The potty trainer career I meant, not your thread op!

But that's the issue with all reality tv, it's completely unnecessary in general. No one needs to see any of it. If you have problems with media courting people flaunting their, and their dependants, every thought and action on tv, don't watch it.

yomommasmomma · 07/11/2019 11:38

The little girl isn't even ready for potty training as far a I can see.

I quite like reality shows in general and no issue with them courting the media, I don't even mind seeing the kids on screen etc. I just got really upset about this one and felt it was too much and totally taking away her daughter dignity.

When she is grown up going to school, the other kids can watch a video of her on the potty.

Ferne generally seems lovely but why put this much of that little girl's life out there, it's too much.

I agree it invades privacy more than other aspects on tv....also she only recently turned 2 and this was I think filmed previously so I wondered if too young.
But i guess many of us watch these programmes and everyone will have different views of what is 'too private' and what is not I suppose.

yomommasmomma · 07/11/2019 11:45

That's the impression I got it was way too early, the whole story line was created just for the show. Her dignity and privacy was totally sacrificed for ratings. Mistake I think.

Narcissism. Plain and simple. Same with parents who display every aspect of their children's lives on Instagram and Facebook.

This link is interesting. A child sued her parents for taking facebook pictures without her consent including cot and sitting on the toilet claiming it has negatively affected her adult life.

herviewfromhome.com/18-year-old-sues-parents-for-posting-inappropriate-photos-on-facebook-without-her-consent-what-this-means-for-parents-on-social-media/

If FM wants to put her life on display she can but it's not fair to her daughter.

zinger · 07/11/2019 12:28

I would love a someone to come and potty train my boy!!

Halo1234 · 07/11/2019 12:31

I completely agree. I like watching the show. And I watch the Sam and Billie one too. But they show totally inappropriate personal moments of their children who dont have a choice. It's wrong. Selling the children's privately. How do u go to school when all your classmates can see you being potty trained. Its puts me off them.

Halo1234 · 07/11/2019 12:31

Privacy not privatley sorry.

Spudina · 07/11/2019 12:40

I agree OP. Much too personal to go on TV. I hope the kid sues her later.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 07/11/2019 13:23

I agree. Treating your kids and their childhood as a cash cow. No class.

ReggaetonLente · 07/11/2019 13:29

I agree, i said the same

eBooksAreBooks · 07/11/2019 16:56

I can't believe no-one's done the standard MN correction yet!

blurred her vagina
It would have to be a very dodgy camera angle! The word you're looking for is "vulva".

thefattestchip · 07/11/2019 17:01

There's always one.

yomommasmomma · 07/11/2019 22:19

Thank you for terminology correction!

Oh it was fine, I was laughing at the potty trainer fluffing her hair in the mirror all the timeGrin

Frith2013 · 07/11/2019 23:45

Who’s Ferne McCann?

WorraLiberty · 07/11/2019 23:48

I thought it was quite refreshing that no-one had done the 'standard MN correction' up until that point...

EdWinchester · 07/11/2019 23:54

Ferne comes across as someone who will do anything to get paid

There you have it. A vacuous non-entity trying to stay famous.

Yoohoo16 · 07/11/2019 23:56

I agree.
