Provera for period delay

Has anybody taken Provera to delay their period?
Does it work the same as norethisterine and does it have any horrendous side effects?

I've tried to get norethisterine from superdrug online but been refused and offered provera instead.

I have used it a couple of times & it was fine. Took 2 tablets a day a few days before period was due & it delays it.

I found I still got cramps & mood swings & heavier period than usual when I stopped taking it, but no bleeding, which is what I was aiming for.
