Do you exercise every day?

If so... what do you do and how long have you been doing it for? How do you keep the momentum going?

Is it true that that hardest part of regular exercise is the first three weeks and after then it becomes a habit?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 07/11/2019 02:12

No I exercise between 3-5 times a week.
I do some hefty stuff though, so it would be unwise to fatigue my body 7 days with no rest.

I got the habit from finding a venue and exercise that suits me. If I didn't enjoy it I'd never have stuck with it.

FinnBalorsAbs · 07/11/2019 02:19

I exercise six days a week, using an exercise app at home. Mostly either 40 minutes while the kids are eating breakfast or a little longer during naptime.

It’s definitely habitual now. I’ve been doing it two years and it’s helped me lose more than six stone.

lljkk · 07/11/2019 03:48

Yes every day.
Agree once it's habit then it is hard not to. Dunno if 3 wks is the transition point, but could be.

I have no appetite if I don't exercise. I like food.. so I need to exercise.
I'm proud to be fit... I was a weak wimp as a child.

I usually have a day off a week & vary what I do (yoga, weights, cycling/spinning) but even on my day off I usually do 12,000 steps as I have dogs. I’ve been exercising like this for about 30 years, the only time I didn’t exercise regularly was when I was in an unhealthy relationship with someone who drank a lot & did drugs when I was in my early 20s. I started doing aerobics & weights in my mid teens, before that I swam competitively.

squeekums · 07/11/2019 04:12

Nope. The thought don't interest me

OccasionalNachos · 07/11/2019 06:21

Not every day because like @BuzzShitbagBobbly I need to rest inbetween sessions (weightlifting) but I always walk, go to yoga or do something active.

Find what you like, & you don’t have to force yourself to do it!

SleepyKat · 07/11/2019 06:30

Yes. But I mix it up.

So I play tennis 2 or 3 times a week. Couple of body balance classes, couple of body pump classes, couple of gym sessions with free weights and cross trainer.

Also cycle commute 14 miles most days.

Doingitaloneandproud · 07/11/2019 06:32

I do, weights 5 days a week, then an hours cardio one day, on my rest day I like to go for a walk. I find I'm more awake when I've trained 😊

confusedandemployed · 07/11/2019 06:35

If I'm in the right place I do. The past 6 months have been a nightmare, a peripatetic lifestyle and recently no gym membership.
I usually mix up cardio and heavy weights, with a bit of yoga / bodybalance thrown in.
I'm already planning my home garage gym with punchbag, special flooring, weights, treadmill and a TV on the wall for Les Mills online and fitness DVDs 😍 I'll be on it 8 days a week then!

Oblomov19 · 07/11/2019 06:37

No. I do no exercise at all.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 07/11/2019 06:48

2-3 sessions of cardio and 1 of Pilates a week.
I no longer have dogs, but try and get outside for some kind of activity most days.

Gardai · 07/11/2019 07:45

I do 6 days BUT moderate exercise as I’m of an age where bashing the feck out of my body won’t work. I also walk a bit.
I’m going slowly now for 2 months and I’m seeing progress 🙏🏼

DonkeyHotty · 07/11/2019 07:47

An hours’ brisk dog walk every day. A floor routine of sit ups and muscle toning for half an hour three times a week.

It keeps me slim and feeling strong.

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 07/11/2019 07:48

Most days but moderate (20 min run, 10 mins yoga) plus two dance classes and a yoga class.

dancingbadger · 07/11/2019 07:49

I'd say 6 times a week most weeks, but I love the buzz I get from it! Lots of running with my dog, toning stuff and weights at cross fit.

AuntieStella · 07/11/2019 07:52

No, because rest and recovery are an important part of my training regime.

Though I did do Run Every Day January for Mind, and did come out quite fit at the end of it. But some of those runs were 'token' ones (under 20 mins easy)

I would be very wary of every day exercise, other than for short periods for specific reasons.

Usually I wouid expect to run 3 or 4 times a week, and do some other form of exercise 1or two times.

Agree that it does become a habit, but it took me quite a long time to develop it, and then even longer to actually like it (several months for that!)

userxx · 07/11/2019 07:52

@FinnBalorsAbs Wow!! That's bloody amazing, much respect ✊

zippyswife · 07/11/2019 07:55

Not at the minute. I’m trying to get back into it. But I used to for years. I lost stones. I mix up running and fitness blender HIIT and strength excercises. I find 3+ times a week and after a month or so I’m back into it.

Trewser · 07/11/2019 07:58

I walk my dogs for an hour and a half a day. Hills included. I lift heavy bales of hay and muck out stables every day. That's 7 days a week. Occasionally I go to a yoga class or for a jog.

Bluntness100 · 07/11/2019 08:02

I go through phases. Currently I'm doing six days a week. Which is more standard than not. I have a home gym. I do cardio two days running, bike, elliptical, treadmill. on the third day I do weights, followed by rowing machine, rinse and repeat and take Sunday off. I do about forty mins daily. Some days I run in there, other days I need to drag my arse.

I think exercise makes the biggest difference to your body and how it looks, if you stick at it. But you need to do it properly and not play at it.

AntennaReborn · 07/11/2019 08:02

I train 4 times a week, 3 x 2h and 1x1h (powerlifting). In between I try and walk as much as possible and do the odd bit of yoga.

I plan my meals carefully and track my macros, and I maintain a healthy weight

Part of it is habit, part of it is having found a type of exercise I enjoy so training is my me-time, rather than something I feel I have to do

PurpleDaisies · 07/11/2019 08:03

No, I think having rest days is important. Im usually at the gym three or four times a week.

redchocolatebutton · 07/11/2019 08:03

well, I cycle to work 3x a week (5miles) and do weights at home 3x

plus I walk a lot (don't have a car) to do shopping

treeofwhispers · 07/11/2019 08:04

Yes, I do a 50 minute slow run or a 25 minute faster run. Also some exercises like the plank, wall press ups, calf and hamstring stretches, sitting against a wall. I feel better for it. The run seems to keep my circulation going and Ioosens me up, the other exercises are good for strengthening. I also try to get out and do some walking most days. I sometimes do miss days if I am busy but don't feel much benefit from rest days, the opposite, really. I don't do very hard running, though.

Trewser · 07/11/2019 08:05

I'd love to do weights! I am old and with a dodgy back though Sad
