Linen nightshirt, feet out when baking, feet in when not. It does pass. Lying flat on a tiled bathroom floor helps too.

I find they come in waves, I was utterly deranged with it a few weeks ago, lying on top of all the covers, naked, spread-eagled
dripping with sweat, and tossing and turning all night. Horrid.

It seems to have abated somewhat now to just a bit of gentle insomnia which, as I work from home and have older children and an excellent husband is manageable though annoying!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 07/11/2019 01:42

No suggestions but I feel your pain as I'd be lying outside the covers boiling to death, finally drop off and then wake up hypothermic. Ugh.

DramaAlpaca · 07/11/2019 01:46

I have a sheet under my 4.5 tog duvet. Sometimes I'm under just the sheet, other times I need the duvet as well. My days of sleeping comfortably under a nice heavy duvet are long over, but I've got used to it.

I'm not on HRT but take Menopace Plus vitamins. I swear they stopped my day time overheating and I they seem to help with night time sweats as well.

Aquamarine1029 · 07/11/2019 02:25

HRT, op. It's just silly to suffer like this when you don't have to. It's also important for your heart and bone health.

SurfingApple · 07/11/2019 03:12

HRT stopped nine within a couple of weeks! I found the e booklet The Truth About HRT by Liz Earle a very relevant and informative read when I had exactly the same night sweats from peri menopause .

Ritascornershop · 07/11/2019 03:15

Honestly, I put up with it for a good 18 months along with increasing weepiness and anxiety. HRT sorted me within about a week. I wish I’d done it sooner.

YesILikeItToo · 07/11/2019 03:19

HRT. But if that was my only symptom I’d be prepared to try those special nighties my Facebook feed thinks I need....

BasiliskStare · 07/11/2019 03:24

Fan on bedside table and a light soft blanket to swap with duvet as and when during the night.

Ilovetolurk · 07/11/2019 05:44

I had a sheet under the duvet too. Can pull and push the duvet up and down to the right temperature and sheet means I never get too cold

No heating in the bedroom after 10. My bedroom is very cool

PostNotInHaste · 07/11/2019 05:47

Cotton nightshirt, wool duvet, sheet by headboard ad sage tablets.

Beemail1 · 07/11/2019 06:02

Water spray, small water bottle on bedside table and used to hug it when bad😁
Agree with wool duvet, linen or 100% cotton sheets, lighter cover used when necessary. It does pass!

ittooshallpass · 07/11/2019 06:09

I was getting hot flushes every hour day and night. As it was my only symptom I was nervous about taking HRT. My Dr prescribed Clonidine which stopped the hot flushes in 3 days. Fabulous.

nameisnotimportant · 07/11/2019 06:23

I'm not going through menopause but I've just had a baby and I'm getting terrible night sweats and hot flushes. I read online that a quick cold shower just before bed is meant to help and it really does work. It doesn't stop them completely but I don't seem to get quite as sweaty as usual.

Silvercatowner · 07/11/2019 07:04

HRT. Amazing stuff.

CatUnderTheStairs · 07/11/2019 07:08

HRT, stopped them almost completely. Have one every so often, every couple of months, usually if I’ve overdone on red wine.

Wool duvet really helped while finding right HRT.

I realise how debilitating it had become till it stopped.

GeneHuntLover · 07/11/2019 07:14

Those who are on HRT, did it/does it cause weight gain?

Boristhecats · 07/11/2019 07:15

I have both the little window and the big window open every night. Without that I would die.

BarbaraStrozzi · 07/11/2019 07:17

HRT.

In my case, no weight gain, in fact quite the reverse. Once I was no longer knackered and completely lacking in willpower (due to chronic sleep deprivation) I stopped comfort eating shit without even having to think about it.

Gardai · 07/11/2019 07:42

100% natural fibres, bed linen and nightwear help a bit. Polyester makes me much worse, even a tiny %.

Meruem · 07/11/2019 09:18

If you have a partner who's willing to tolerate it, open the window in your bedroom wide before you go to sleep. I feel "normal" cold during the day but at night if I leave the window shut I wake up feeling boiling. I'm single so I don't have to consider anyone else! Also a cotton top sheet. It feels cooler than a duvet against your skin and also means you can throw the duvet off and have just the sheet over you if necessary. I ditched my quilt entirely and got a gravity blanket (as I do need weight on me).

Gilead · 07/11/2019 09:20

Dog cooking mat, fiver in b and m. By your feet in a pillowcase.

Gilead · 07/11/2019 09:20

Cooling mat! Good grief!

Trewser · 07/11/2019 09:22

Hrt.

Sarcelle · 07/11/2019 09:25

Sage tablets stopped mine.
