Best family Christmas movies? Family with two hard-to-please cynical teenagers!

Anyone got any recommendations for Christmas movies that are actually good? I have one 17yo who sees himself as a world-weary intellectual and likes old films, clever satire etc, and one 16yo who likes more anarchic, edgy humour, would happily watch the Family Guy Christmas episodes non-stop and thinks his brother is a ponce Grin. He also likes Home Alone but D1 curled his lip at that suggestion.

DH and I like soppy heart-warming stuff as well (we like Love Actually and Nativity) but we'll go with anything really

All suggestions gratefully received!

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation - 2 teens here and we all love it.

I still like bad Santa. Haven’t seen the second one yet. Must look and see if it’s on sky cinema free yet....

Second vote for Elf..
It's a classic

Abibranning · 06/11/2019 22:07

Daddy's Home 2 or The Night Before.

salty78 · 06/11/2019 22:09

Elf every year in our house

EleanorLavish · 06/11/2019 22:12

Elf would be good for you all.
My own favourites are Miracle on 34th Street (the one with Richard Attenborough, such a lovely Santa!), and Meet Me in St Louis. Not mega Christmassy but enough.

AnnaMagnani · 06/11/2019 22:13

Elf.
Muppet Christmas Carol.
Die Hard.

Tashtegotoo · 06/11/2019 22:15

Ooh, lots of votes for Elf! We'll try that :) Saw Bad Santa last year and we did all enjoy it.

Christmas with the Kranks
Muppet Christmas Carol

TheFaerieQueene · 06/11/2019 22:23

The Family Stone. Certainly not your traditional family Christmas story.

afromom · 06/11/2019 22:23

There's a Bad Santa 2, if you enjoyed the first one.
DP loves Die Hard, I can't reconcile all the shooting with a Christmas movie though!
Elf is my favourite
We watched Planes,Trains and Automobiles the other day - it's thanksgiving rather than Christmas, but was really funny (Steve Martin and John Candy).

SuntanC · 06/11/2019 22:24

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation... a family favourite for us!

HerRoyalNotness · 06/11/2019 22:27

We watched it last year and our teens thought it was terrible.
