Hi everyone

We’ve recently started trying to conceive, and I’m already totally confused about what my body is doing. Hoping someone can help with reassurance! As I’ve revently come off the pill (Cerelle) and before that he implant for 9 years I haven’t yet to my knowledge had a back to normal type of period. Because of this, I have no clue about the right time to test and have already had a few negatives even though I’m getting lots of symptoms. Went to docs about light bleeding after sex as was worried. His response was basically ‘you’re probably not pregnant (raging!) but test again in a week’ Really disheartening that I was so easily dismissed as not pregnant. I read somewhere if you don’t know your dates then to test at 21days? So I’m hoping this timeline will help...

24th sept came off pill
3rd October spotting
W/c 14th queasy, dizzy and just not myself, moodiness
20th first time trying
25th very light period for 3 days which seemed like implantation, cramping, breasts very sore, twinges started, headaches, feeling queasy again, mega tired more than usual (I already have trouble with tiredness), aching all over
30th second time trying and slight bleed the next morning. This is when I visited the docs (31st) who said test again in a week and come back with any further problems
1st Nov Took test (nurse for other things suggest to go for it!) came back negative but took mid way through the day.
4th Nov Our Anniversary, so retested and was negative

Since 25th, I’ve felt queasy everyday with twinges in lower tummy, headaches, achy ness, breast pain but more intermittent now, dizzy, , tummy cramping, bloated around lower body, leg cramping. I feel as though I’ve had the other symptoms too but I do go the loo a lot in the day anyway and have tiredness. Does this sound like pregnancy??

I’m nervous to test again as we have wanted this for a long time, my body is telling me I am but even after 2 weeks after what would be conceiving, I’ve still had negative tests and it seems very quick from us starting to conceive. Obviously will be so thankful if it’s true as I know it’s not always that easy.

Thanks in advance

Sorry to be pessimistic, but it sounds more to me like your body adjusting to being off the pill than early pregnancy. Please let yourself relax a bit, be aware that all of your hormones will be giving you a bit of a kicking at the minute and you need to give them time to get out of your system. I would keep it casual and just have lots of sex- don't think of it as trying, that's going to drive you wild after a while! And then see where you are in 3-4 months.

But good luck, and fingers crossed for a positive anyway!

You'll drive yourself crazy symptom spotting. Just try to relax. The symptoms from hormonal changes due to coming off the pill, PMS and pregnancy are all pretty much the same.

Wishing you luck though!

Thank you both! Too good to be true I suppose but we're only at the beginning. Onwards and upwards Smile

As a doctor I don't think your doctor said anything wrong. Sorry. Your symptoms are all very non-specific and could relate to your cycle returning to normal. As PP have said, relax and get shagging and test every week or so until you either have a period or a BFP. Good luck.
