I've just heard that one of my relatives has died, and need to send flowers. I've looked at Interflora but don't really like their bouquets. I was hoping for something fragrant, large, varied, not just, eg, roses and lilies. An old fashioned type bouquet, not something in a jar. I know the recipnts have good vases already.

Any recommendations?

Bloom and Wild are good. If you use their App to order and use the code 'THEAPP' you get 15% off at the moment I think?
I ordered some a few days ago for a friend.

Whereabouts do they live? If in london I love petalon flowers (delivered by bike!) or mcqueens

Jux · 06/11/2019 19:54

Not in London, in Sussex - maybe a stretch for those bikes!

Will look at B&W now, thanks. On this occasion price is no object, not much anyway!

Forever Green, in Old Beaconsfield. You can use a postal service to send anywhere in the Uk. Absolutely beautiful flowers, enormous variety and lots of blooms for the money! Cannot recommend highly enough.

I just use marks and Spencer's, never had a problem and reasonably priced.

Another vote for bloom and wild

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/11/2019 20:08

Another vote for Bloom and Wild - I couldn't believe how long their flowers lasted.

Jux · 06/11/2019 22:13

Ok, I've got it down to two, this one from Forever Green, www.forevergreenflowers.co.uk/flowers/Hand_Tied_Bouquet_-_Lilac_Twist.aspx

Or The Ember from Bloom and Wild, www.bloomandwild.com/credit/AWFG20/send-flowers?campaignid=365642175&adgroupid=54916218916&term=%2Bflowers%20%2Bdelivered%20%2Buk&gclid=Cj0KCQiA-4nuBRCnARIsAHwyuPo8vJEfj0fV7jlnevHDX1oU2fpQs9WU6SFc4PCzm2uUeoNSN_i9600aAtVQEALw_wcB

DH thinks they are "too jolly", and I should find something in shades of blue with lots and lots of foliage. I disagree about the foliage, can say categorically that I want to send flowers not leaves.

So what do people think of those two bouquets in commiseration for a shocking, tragic and unexpected death? (young person.)

Send the Ember. They are beautiful. Not all mourners will want sad flowers. A bit of colour may brighten a sad room.

Are you getting the 20% off offer coming up? Code awfg20

I'm very sorry for your loss.

howells · 06/11/2019 22:20

Personally, out of those two I prefer the Bloom and Wild one. Sorry about your relative’s death.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/11/2019 22:21

I've used bloom and wild, moon pig and M&S. all very good.

FLOrenze · 06/11/2019 22:26

Bloom and Wild here too. There flowers last for ages unlike most

mollymandyandypandy · 06/11/2019 22:33

I have used M&S in the past but won't use them again because last time I sent flowers they didn't deliver on the day as requested due to supplier issues. Yes they delivered the next day however I do feel that someone sending flowers is normally for something on that day e.g. birthday, anniversary and just sending an email saying 'sorry they will be there tomorrow is not good enough. I normally now try and find independent florists that are local to the intended recipient.

Jux · 07/11/2019 01:03

TwattingDog (great name!), I was going to send The Ember but it's not available until 25 Nov, and I didn't want to wait, it's taken the Family Grapevine long enough to get to me already. So I've sent The Vintage something from Forever Green.

Thank you all for your help, I've noted both those florists - I know I'll be needing them again.
