Neighbour and their car

About 3 months ago our neighbours son (18) bought a new car, it’s a small car but he then went and got it modified to have a bloody massive exhaust pipe out on it. He seems to work nights, or be nocturnal as every night for the past 3 months he arrives home between 12.30am and 3am revving the nuts off the bloody car and I have been woken up every single night since he got it. We live in the middle of a big development so we can’t be the only ones being disturbed. It’s gradually pissing me off more and more. Would I be being grumpy to have a word with the neighbours?

Not at all. Otherwise this could carry on forever. Shouldn't it have a silencer on?

It’s very possibly an illegal exhaust. You could have a word with local police (ours loved putting the brakes on teenage drivers when I was young) or your councils noise complaint department. Or steal his exhaust. Grin

I would love to steal his exhaust! I did wonder about putting potatoes up it, but think that may not be the mature answer!

They'll only pop straight out.

You can try talking to the neighbours but I'm always pessimistic. Decent people aren't antisocial in the first places and arseholes will ignore you.

Totally agree with safariboot. If your neighbours (his parents) had any sort of decency, they would tell him to either put the exhaust back to how it should be or put a silencer on it. He'll be a sitting duck attracting police attention. He sounds a selfish little shite and his parents obnoxious arseholes, so I doubt you'll get any resolution by speaking to them but fingers crossed x
