I’m having a nighttime panic about my dd - anyone awake?

My dd is 10 so not a fragile newborn - she’s a Strong sturdy thing - does karate etc Grin

The last few months she has been complaining of headaches on and off - she can’t seem to describe it well but she says it feels like poking in her forehead or the top of her head.

She has also been increasingly complaining of leg pains - which seem to be mostly knee area but sometimes she just says generally legs. A few times it’s been that her legs feel like jelly . She has also said that she feels lightheaded and headachey if it’s hot .

All these things haven’t been at once it’s one thing here one thing there. Also the intensity doesn’t seem too bad because she not crying in pain or anything it’s more just a mention of it and being a bit quiet. TBH I thought maybe it was growing pains and I’ve just let her get on. She doesn’t seem to bad.

Today she has been in tears over not much really, and I just looked at her and she seemed just not right. She’s a red head so always pale! But she seemed even paler than normal.

I suddenly had a rush of all these little things come together in my head and that they could be related and now I’m lying here in a panic thinking there is something actually wrong with her.

I am going to call gp in the morning - even though my husband says I’m over reactingBlush

But really I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about this. I am too afraid to google it because I’ve made that mistake before!!

We have 5 other children so I feel like I have seen my fair share if aches and pains but I am just not feeling right about this.

I would monitor her fluid / water intake for a bit while you wait for the GP appointment because all these symptoms can be put down to chronic dehydration too.

So the gp saw her today and said it probably just growing pains so not to worry about it but she has got loads of blood tests booked tomorrow morning just to check.

My husband has ankylosing spondylitis so he’s actually testing for that as well. Even though it more of an adult thing.

He gave us a prescription for numbing cream as well to help.

Oh sorry! Cross post. Ok that's reassuring and blood tests can pick up so much. Hope she's feeling better soon.

Oh bless you, you sound like a fantastic mum doing absolutely the right thing.

Oh, that is good news! I am so glad, for both of you.

I'd check with your doctor or pharmacist on this to see if they're okay for children, but the other member of my household often gets muscular pains and swears by things like Tiger Balm, Biofreeze and Deep Heat.

I trained as a massage therapist some years ago in one of my "I must leave the rat race" episodes, so I have a fair knowledge of aromatherapy and base oils (not practising outside friends and family any more though) and again, good ones to use (not all at once - limit to three, and just a couple of drops of each, diluted in a nice base oil and rubbed in, or diluted in a bit of milk in the bath) can be lemongrass, rosemary (check for contraindications), lavender, marjoram, and quite a few others. We've also tried some of the Kneipp bath salts for muscles and they are also quite lovely. (Other household member also has pretty much every microwaveable and freezable pad you can think of....)

Your daughter's very lucky to have such a caring mum. And as someone else has said, blood tests can show so much.

And @FrenchFancie thank you for the tip about Elma, too.
