Our trust has moved from competency based interviews to value based, we're very much looking at the partnership between health and social care.

@TitianaTitsling can I ask how your trust achieves an understanding of someone's value base? What type of questions do they ask interviews?

Trust values; if you know them; what they stand for; conflict resolution with staff issues/dealing with difficult colleagues; how you'd make sure you demonstrated equal opportunities; how you keep on top of your CPD; how you'd ensure staff were up-to-date with their mandatory training; how you'd deal with managing budgetary restrictions; what current issues are you aware of in mental health; time management; staff management. Discharge; liaising with social services/local authorities; long-term care.

The Mental Health Act; Deprivation of Liberty; dementia; drug advances might also come up. If you have a look at the person spec and think what kind of questions they might ask to make sure they're getting someone who fits their requirements that might also help.

Best of luck - I've had reason in the last 18 months to be very grateful to the mental health teams locally, with 95% of them doing a fantastic job in restoring me to a reasonable level of health and sanity!
