Sudden onset
Tummy ache
Sick a few times
Temperature
No appetite
Barely been off the sofa
Flushed cheeks
Sore throat / bit of a cough

Almost 7yo, chicken pox has hit his class (but he has had it already)

I have two younger DC one of whom is disabled (and I'm on medication to suppress my immune system but I've had my jab already)

That is exactly how my dd started. The suddenness of it was shocking (within 30 mins) I didn't know what it was at the time but a few days later she was hospitalised with it and a complication and was confirmed as influenza A. My son had it also and was tested at the hospital yet gis body coped with it much better.

How is your DD now @Holymolymackerel?

I do worry as DC1 isnt the most "robust" of children. He was hospitalised with a sickness bug a few years back as he refused all fluid.... seems to be going the same way with this illness. Sigh

It happened in March 2018. She is fine now but at the time her immune system took a battering which led to a secondary infection taking hold where she had to have an operation so was in hospital for 8 days but was a very rare complication. My son had it at the same time and was in hospital for 2 days, one of which overlapped with his sister so I had two in isolation but he got over it quicker with no complications.

Be very vigilant and don't hesitate to contact docs if you are worried. My intuition was valuable.
