Please help me feel less upset about DD psoriasis

I'm pretty sure DD, at nearly 10, has just developed psoriasis. Seeing GP this week.

I'm gutted for her, really gutted. Also catastrophising about what this means.

Please can someone tell me (kindly) I need to pull myself together and deal with this positively, tell me there are decent treatments and no need to despair. Please no horror stories - can't take it right now.

Sorry for being a bit pathetic, and thanks in advance.

Milomonster, Protopic sounds very interesting.

Please do try oil of evening primrose topically, MrPianoman. It really is very good but if it doesn't work it won't have done her any harm.

Just to add in, I've tried pre-biopics for psoriasis via fermented goats milk. I tried it for a year. It did nothing for me. I was disappointed.
However from testimonials I did read it's helped other people so you never know.

@Bluerussian it’s brill although your can feel as if it’s burning but you get used to it. Starflower oil has a high concentration of the fatty acids than primrose oil - also worth looking at.

Thanks Milomonster, if I hear of anyone with psoriasis or eczema I'll pass that on - I think someone else on a thread a few weeks ago talked about starflower and oil of primrose together being effective.

I've not had great problems but occasionally dry eczema and was amazed at how quickly it cleared with primrose. Better than steroid creams!

This is a timely thread, as I'm having a bit of a flare up at the mo. Probably stress and maybe weather? But to be honest it's made me realise how lucky I've been with my psoriasis, as I've had it for thirty years and it's been pretty mild and only in parts of the body easy to cover up. The only thing that can be embarrassing is the flakes from my scalp showing up on my clothes like dandruff - that was a bit mortifying as a teenager but not the end of the world!

Milo Ds has had tacrolimus and the lower strength pro tropic for his eczema. The tacrolimus worked better than the protopic but Ds couldn't manage the burning sensation. Unfortunately any benefits of it stopped once he had used the cream for the required time, it can't be used long term either. He has very stubborn eczema that we never manage to really get on top off.
