Sainsbury's - Are they removing cheaper products from online store?

Just wondered if anyone else has noticed this?

For the last couple of months I've noticed that products I used to buy in my online grocery shop are no longer available for delivery, despite still being there at the store (where the delivery comes from) when I go in person Hmm.
I just wonder if it's a sneaky way of getting people to trade up to more expensive versions?
So, a couple of examples this week:

  • no ordinary broccoli - just sprouting broccoli/ organic etc
  • haven't been able to buy Sainsbury's own laundry powder for many weeks now - just more expensive liquids and capsules

Also my favourites no longer seem to be saved for very long - it seems that whenever there's an update I lose a lot of them.
grr...

Yes! I have noticed this. Really annoyed that the washing powder has disappeared. Last week we hard to order organic broccoli and then they substituted for normal broccoli Hmm

Deelish75 · 04/11/2019 16:56

I’ve noticed they do do this from time to time and then everything reappears again after a week or two. We’ve just had the thing with the broccoli too, but it wasn’t substituted. Wander if it’s an individual store thing or nationwide? I’m in Kent.

Yes! No more cheap savers Italian hard cheese. Very annoying - it’s lovely veggie Parmesan!

WombleishofTheThighs · 04/11/2019 17:21

Own brand washing powder hasn't been available online here in the north east for a while either.

rainbowconfetti · 04/11/2019 17:23

It's due to them condensing in store stock in the run up to Christmas. It happens every year.

CactusAndCacti · 04/11/2019 18:57

Been happening since the summer, I tweeted them about it and just got a stock reply about stock in individual stores. It was ridiculous as it was over a week that I was updating my shop (for when I got back from holiday) that things were not showing. It was cereal mainly.

Dough balls are very elusive at present.

PeachesandPie · 04/11/2019 19:03

Not just Sainsburys, Asda have done this too! Lots of own brand stuff missing over the course of the week when I did and edited the shop, then had substitutions which were cheaper so clearly they did have the own brand in stock.

Woodlandwitch · 04/11/2019 19:14

I don’t have this problem with Waitrose Halo

CactusAndCacti · 04/11/2019 19:19

Waitrose don't associate themselves with us, far too common for them.

Daphine2004 · 04/11/2019 19:36

Morrisons are the same, but I don’t believe it’s for Christmas as happening all year. Really annoying!

AwkwardSquad · 04/11/2019 19:41

Yes, I’d noticed the washing powder - not available online, but it’s there on the shelves in store. Weird.

CactusAndCacti · 04/11/2019 20:51

I've had difficulty getting washing powder too. I use non bio powder and have been unable to get it for ages. It may be in store but I don't go to my delivery store that often (I use a smaller store on the way home from work)

Weekday28 · 04/11/2019 20:57

Yes! Exactly the same here. Also the own brand veggie sausages. I did switch to ocado last month as I had vouchers but tried them again this week and its still the same. I think I going to try tesco next week, so annoying.

managedmis · 04/11/2019 20:58

Dough balls are very elusive at present.

^^

Sorry

I've just been on the Sainsbury's app and they have non-bio and and 2-in-one in now where we are. I've been to Lidl to try theirs though.

MotherofOne · 06/11/2019 16:50

Ah, thanks, not just me then!

May have to switch to Tesco I think, not least because Sainsbury's seem to have permanently delisted Weetos and DS HAS to get his fix!
