lf l mute a chat, can a participant ( it’s a work group chat) see if l have read their message in my own time?
It was an exhausting chat between lots of colleagues- l couldn’t be bothered with it at the time.
I went over it later.
I’ve no idea if it shows l read it at all? Thank you.

Yes, if a person was minded to check who’s read the message, then they can. If you press and hold a WhatsApp message youve sent, a menu comes up. Pick “More” then “Info” and you’ll get a screen showing when the message was delivered and who has read it / when they read it. Only the sender of the message has access to this info. Doesn’t matter if you’ve muted the chat (they won’t know that) as muting only stops you getting notifications, not messages being delivered.

Ah ok. Thought so. I wanted to look invisible! 😆 thank you very much.

You can change the settings so it doesn't show when you are online as well, but I think the messages will still show as read once you've read them.
It's not obvious in a group chat though, people would have to go properly searching - it's not obvious from a glance that you've read it unless you reading it means everyone in the group has read it, then the tick turns blue.
