Best way to get blood out of a cream carpet?

Best to do it straight away, or leave to dry first? Just spots, but several of them. I don't know if I'm becoming menopausal but (TMI) just had a huge menstrual flood, totally unexpected, came through my clothes and dropped onto carpet.

Straight away. Cold water. Salt.

It will come out though. I got a three year old labour stain out with a rug doctor. I had just put a rug over it up till then as I thought we had no hope as I basically birthed the placenta straight onto my new cream carpet.

I can share some tips for getting blood out of carpets given to me by midwives who attended lots of home births. Don't let it dry if possible, but no biggie if it does. Blot with something absorbent eg kitchen roll. Add cold water and blot more until no more colour comes out. Don't use hot water as heat changes the proteins in blood & makes it harder to remove.
Once you're getting no further with water, drop some dilute hydrogen peroxide on it. You should still be able to get this from a pharmacy I think. This fizzes in a satisfying way and bleaches out the stain. Once the stain is gone, blot again and rinse with a little more cold water.

If you don't have hydrogen peroxide handy, mix up some biological laundry detergent to the dilution recommended for hand washing and leave some of that too sit on there for a while before rubbing towards the centre of the stain. You'll need to rinse with cold water after.
Good luck!

Get a Martha from jezebels. They are experts.

Thank you! I did the blotting, then salt, then shampoo the next day. It's not entirely gobe but it was small spots and the carpet has a slightly darker pattern on it so it's not noticeable.
