Mischief night

How did everyone fair last night. It was terrible by me, worst it’s ever been I think. Gangs of 20 plus youths roaming the streets causing mayhem. They pushed a car completely over, smashed windscreens, caused loads of damage in a local supermarket etc. They pulled the wing mirror completely off my car. This is all apparently in a naice area too! Hope it’s better tonight.

I’m in west Lancashire, just north of Merseyside. It was absolutely dreadful.

ManonBlackbeak - ode to the book series?

stoplickingthetelly · 31/10/2019 18:38

Apparently it’s starting up again. A friend was just driving home from Formby to her home near me and she just had fireworks thrown at her car. Another report from a friend last night - she saw youths outside and challenged them so in response they kicked down 2 fence panels and covered her house in eggs. She lives in a very expensive conservation area.

Moominfan Yes!

ineedaholidaynow · 31/10/2019 18:39

Do any youths get arrested for this behaviour? It sounds awful.

Marmite27 · 31/10/2019 18:40

It’s the night before bonfire night Hmm

ManonBlackbeak · 31/10/2019 18:40

Formby is supposed to be affluent isnt it? Its where all the footballers live.

stoplickingthetelly · 31/10/2019 18:48

Yes, it’s really nice and apparently so is where I live. My friend who had the fence panels kicked down lives in an area of houses that sell for 800k onwards, some over a million pounds. My wing mirror is going to cost at least £200 to be fixed 😟

Not sure if anyone has been arrested. Police just seem to move them on. Maybe there’s not much else they can do unless they catch them in the act.

In Ireland and have never heard of it thank goodness. 31st is Halloween and bonfire night here.

strongswans · 31/10/2019 19:00

Never heard of it! Originally from Kent, now in Gloucestershire. Just sounds like an excuse for anti social behaviour to be honest. Hope they get had up for the damage!

scarecrowfeet · 31/10/2019 19:24

Formby is affluent but also has a bad reputation for drugs and county lines.

Anyat212 · 31/10/2019 19:28

I'm in the NE and it's 30/10 for us too! We didn't have any trouble (thankfully) but seen loads of updates saying police had attended a very high number of incidents because of mischief night!

Itstheprinciple · 31/10/2019 19:51

I see there are some mnetters local to me... Hello!

Itstheprinciple · 31/10/2019 19:52

It has been 30/10 for years in Liverpool. It has spread to outlying towns in the last couple of years.

stoplickingthetelly · 31/10/2019 20:00

@itstheprinciple I think that’s exactly what’s happened near me. It’s been getting worse over the last few years, but last night was definitely the worst yet.

@scarecrowfeet that’s very true about Formby and sadly probably my area too.

OP posts:
stoplickingthetelly · 31/10/2019 20:03

@strongswans you’re absolutely right. That’s exactly what it is. Parents know this happens so why they can’t just keep their kids in I don’t know.

Baguetteaboutit · 31/10/2019 20:08

I'm in Teesside, mischief night is the 30/10 here. No problems in the area I live, in fact nothing happened at all but there was a lot of trouble in some nearby areas.

Rainbowbrite11 · 31/10/2019 20:13

I'm in Leeds and it's the 4th, night before bonfire night.

stoplickingthetelly · 31/10/2019 20:14

Hope it’s not too bad for all of you that have mischief night still to come.

PhantomErik · 31/10/2019 20:22

Never heard of it in Cornwall.

Hope it doesn't start down here as it sounds awful!

Sorry about your wing mirror Sad

WhiskersPete · 31/10/2019 20:24

I'm in Liverpool. Is it shocking. Something needs to be done about it next year.

Lj8893 · 31/10/2019 20:26

I’m in the northwest and never heard of it!!
Did see a couple of posts on local Facebook groups about antisocial behaviour in the Wirral last night though so I guess that explains it!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/10/2019 20:26

Sounds like The Purge.

Livebythecoast · 31/10/2019 20:29

@fishonabicycle - never heard of it too - also in Kent - sounds like we're not missing much?! - thank God
